Ndamukong Suh never had a bad game. Certainly Colt McCoy and Mark Ingram had days where they disappeared (in Colt's case, thanks to Suh). Tim Tebow didn't play the full season. The only guys that brought it every single game were Suh and Stanford running back Toby Gerhart. Both teams finished with four losses, both led their teams to wins over four ranked opponents.

I give the tiebreaker to Suh because his signature game came on a neutral field against a team playing for the national championship. Gerhart's signature game was against Notre Dame at home.

As a defense as a whole, the Blackshirts of Nebraska were back in 2009. They allowed 20 or fewer points in 12 of their 13 games. Texas Tech scored 31 against Nebraska, but the Red Raider defense returned a fumble for a touchdown in that win. In games where Suh didn't rack up the tackles, he still pressured the quarterback plenty and made a difference on special teams as well. He ranked in the top 10 in the nation in sacks and top 15 in tackles for loss.

Saturday showed why a boy named Suh gets my Heisman vote.

I'm curious why they went back to 5 finalists? And since they do why the is Tebow there?? He did nothing this year statistically (considering the offense he is in) and he lost the only tough game he had all year (and played poorly.) Thats what makes people not like him, and it's not really even his fault.

When was it 3? I don't remember that. Probably 2006 if there was a year of 3. I don't even remember watching the Heisman ceremony that year.

Suh is a man beast of the highest order, but I don't like giving the heisman to defensive linemen. They never have the ball in their hands, never have the pressure of having to make plays with the ball in your hands and the spotlight on you.

They basically look to overpower the fat in front of them and wrap up the QB or RB.

Last year it was only Tebow, Mccoy and Bradford. 2006 it was 3, as well as 2005.

I don't know why anyone really cares about the Heisman, I'm sure the average person doesnt but ESPN just goes overboard with all that

year after year the best players don't win the award, it never fails

that being said McCoy does not deserve it

I've never cared about the award. I wasn't even that big a fan of Bush or Leinart in college. I was a big White fan. Shame he sucks now.

I don't care much for the award either. And for the record I think it should go to Ingram. I'd love for some big heisman candidate to one year tell them "No, I won't be in NY, I don't care about the heisman i'm too busy getting ready for my bowl game then the NFL combine/draft".

No way it should go to ingram, his team barely beat Tenn. Stanford guy of Sugh that's it. Also Tebow is there cause I'm sure he'll get at least one first place vote

I hate to break it to you, but the best and often smartest players on the field are good linemen like Suh. Linemen on the offensive or defensive side of the ball dictate the game. The greatest quarterback in the world throwing to the best receivers in the world or handing off to the best running backs in the world make no difference if their offensive line can't control the game for them. This is a fact in every level of football.

And for a team like Nebraska, who had problems all across their offense all season, to be in every game they played, including the one against Texas, is a testament to how much of a difference Suh made all year. It didn't matter if he was double-teamed or chipped by the running back, he made Colt McCoy look more like Chris Simms than Vince Young in Dallas.

The Heisman trophy has become a joke over the year EXACTLY because they ignore some of the most important players on the field, basically anybody that isn't a quarterback or running back.

I do wonder how many wins Nebraska would have without Suh. I think he and Bradford make the biggest differences for their teams.

you're not breaking to me junior. I've got more experience with football than you'll hope to have. No linemen are important, but the pressure to perform, the sheer amount of detail that goes into the position does not begin to compare to the QB. He has the ball in his hands virtually every play and has the pressure to win on his shoulders more than anybody except the head coach. That's a fact, and why the heisman is mainly a QBs award in most years.
