It's not that technical. Spaniards aren't white "just like any other european country" as you suggested. Their geographic proximity to northern Africa makes them quite distinct from most other European countries when it comes to the percentage of mixture with African and also Arabian bloodlines. It's too broad to lump Spaniards into a group of most European countries when it comes to how "Caucasian" they are, especially compared to countries like England and Norway and Finland, countries whose history has had far fewer mixture with African and Arabian bloodlines. Spain is similar to Italy in that regard. There's a reason why many Italians and Spaniards share darker features and curly or wavy hair.
thanks for clarifying that. i didn't know they had significantly more arabic and african blood than those other countries. i thought the differences were only very slight

Well, Mexican isn't a race. Hispanic isn't really a race, either, at least by government accounting. Hispanics can be either white or non-white, and "white" hispanics count as "white."
