Nice Try
I can't believe that not one list has The Wrestler on it.
Nice Try
No mention of Training Day?? That was IMO Denzel Washington's best performance I have ever seen. He won an academy award for that role of Alonzo Harris.
My list in no order:
Training Day
No Country for Old men
The Departed
Stop-Loss
I am Sam
Donnie Darko
Der Untergang
The Wrestler
Gran Torino
There will be Blood
25th Hour
The Patriot
This, for the monologue scene alone.
Another film that may not belong on a list like this, but was as well-acted and stunning a film as I saw from this decade was Candy with Geoffry Rush, Heath Ledger and Abby Cornish. Heavy, intense and jaw-dropping with how well acted the film was. Really recommend the film. For as good as Ledger was as The Joker, this is by far his most amazing performance.
never saw that one
but it was funny and completely foreseeable that heath ledger became a great actor after his death
I saw Candy for the first time in 2007, so my opinion was pre-death. He always had potential, but chose some iffy roles. I hated his teen-drama/romance roles. Once he stopped settling he started living up to that potential. Not sure he ever became great, but he could be very good and this role speaks to that more so than any other...
dude...what?
Gladiator is an ultimate guy movie. are you joking! go watch it
City of God
Amorros Perros
Memento
Amelie
Capote
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Walk the Line
Apocalypto
Gangs of New York
Adaptation
The Aviator
There Will Be Blood
Gangs of New York
dicaprio and day lewis, how vanilla
I haven't see 'Ghostworld' in years but I remember it was excellent.
Anyone else agree?
Pans Labyrinth
Gangs of New York
Donnie Darko
Life Aquatic
25th Hour
The Wrestler
Million Dollar Baby
Snatch
In Bruges
A Scanner Darkly
I'm no Ledger/Joker fanboy, but he did already have an Oscar nomination before he died.
In Bruges was good, but i dont think top 10
russell crowe won an oscar
rofl
never would have thought in a bajillion years that mookie would not like 300
NEVER
He should have won a best supporting actor for 'Monster's Ball,' imho.
you ting me? He lasted like twenty minutes into the movie and the emotion just seemed so forced when he shot himself in the stomach. Billy Bob carried almost every scene Heath was in.
Lost in Translation and Eternal Sunshine need to get the off of that list. Throw in teh Departed and 28 Days Later. Now.
Maybe, but it was the one of the best dark comedies I have seen.
Yeah i loved the last part with the Midget
It was hilarious and sad and intense. I just grabbed it randomly one night and was really surprised at how good it was. Definitely should be mentioned as one of the best dark comedies of this decade if not one of the best movies.
dpg you must really like movies that you cant understand and have to take notes on and read the outline online to figure the plots out
i guess im low brow
yeah dogg
i really like all cgi movies with shirtless dudes and big ol fat purple bubbles of blood flying all over the screen for two hours
