Constantly being torn between two ways of living isn't gratifying. Do you fulfill everyday life with the satisfaction of "living" or do you listen to the little voice in your head that instructs you to not trivialize or sacrifice future larger plans for today's gratification? Unless you're born with the silver spoon I don't see how you can have both. Either you live in the moment while foregoing (or put off) the larger picture or you tolerate a substandard approach to today because of the potential payoff down the road.
