    If it's possible.

I bought a PC game (ahem..it's Your Shape featuring Jenny McCarthy don't hate). My computer is pretty new (bought it this summer) so I didn't think it would have any problems with the mimimum requirements of:

Supported OS: Windows XP (SP3), Windows Vista (SP2), Windows 7
Processor: 3.0 GHz Intel Pentium 4 or AMD Athlon 64 3000+ or higher (3.5 GHz Intel Pentium D or AMD Athlon 64 3500+ recommended)
RAM: 1 GB (2 GB recommended)
Video Card: 128 MB DirectX 9.0c-compliant video card (*see supported list)
Sound Card: DirectX 9.0c-compliant sound card
DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (included on disc)
    DVD-ROM: 4x DVD-ROM, dual-layer drive
    Hard Drive Space: 3.5 GB
Peripherals Supported: Your Shape Camera, Windows-compliant keyboard, mouse

Supported Video Cards at Time of Release
    NVIDIA GeForce 6 / 7 / 8 / 9 / 200 Series
    ATI RADEON 9600 / X1000 / HD Series
    ATI CrossFire
    NVIDIA SLI
Works on most laptop versions of these cards, but due to hardware variances we cannot guarantee performance.
And then comes the graphics card. I guess my graphics card is a piece of crap. Like a step up from . I read that there is some external graphics cards in the works but not available now. Is there anything else out there or am I SOL? Any suggestions?

I tried to install it on a ty desktop that I had before the laptop, but that was a worse option than the laptop. I searched for these graphics cards to see if they're even near affordable to upgrade the desktop but they're as expensive (if not more) than the game. Anywaay.

You didn't post what card your using. If your not sure download this,

    http://dw.com.com/redir?edId=3&siteI...16b026767913f5

You may as well get another video card if you plan to play any other games in the future. If it said this...

Chances are your SOL! Some of those cards are more than what It cost to replace your motherboard. Go to Craig'slist I saw a guy there selling a good 299,99 dollar card for 40.00 dollars. Make sure you have the right slots.
    and gives us updates.

    Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD with 128MB-1759MB
dynamically allocated shared graphics memory in a Toshiba Satellite A505-S6960.

I wouldn't mind it, but the way I'm reading things it sounds like it's in the motherboard and it's such a new computer (and a lovely one at that I would rather not...) I'm not a gamer. This was just an alternative to spending $300ish dollars on a Wii and all the other games. And now I may end up spending that much on the new card. Arggh!

If I can replace just the card that'd be great. But can I do that?

    Again...probably something I don't want to do.

According to what I have read your card is integrated. That means it is part of the motherboard.

here is the specs on your video card not very good for that game.

Did you post what your laptop specs are?

There are sometimes video accelerator drivers you can download. according to the specs the only thing i see in the way is your processor, what did PC wizard say?
Pentium D 3.5 GHz, 2 GB RAM, Graphic card 128 MB,

The 128 video is not that powerful it's not like your trying to play Medal of Honor.

The problem is the game is so new to PC I can't find any decent reviews.

I would bite the bullet and get a used Wii for 80 dollars off criag's list before i buy a 450.00 dollar video card you can't install .

Go to the site that makes the game download a video driver.

Ohh...an accelerator. I never thought of that. Is that like a flux capacitor? I would bite the bullet with a used Wii, but the game is PC. Ugggh. Maybe I should just sell it on CL.

The reason is because I have a good video card like yours but if i don't download the right drivers it doesn't play all my games.

You can Google your video card and go to the Intel site they have all the drivers give it a shot, just make sure you set up a restore date so you can put the pc back where you started in case you it up.

Take the game to best buy or another store pop it in a laptop see if it plays. The folks at Best buy can tell you if your notebook is able to play it.

Try downloading Guitar hero if your PC won't play it then it's your video card.

Well that would have been helpful before I bought the game since they had my computer there (at Best Buy where I bought the gam) but now I have the game at home nonfunctional.

Since its a laptop and an integrated video card you could try upgrading your RAM up to 4gb. Ram is cheap right now, there is no reason at all not to have 4gb of ram on a 32bit system.

ram wont fix your problem, drivers will, like others have said (even then, you still might be SOL, 128mb of ram on a video card is and I never trust on-board video). Not having 4gb of ram at this day and age though is pretty much inexcusable.

This redneck guy is right but the game doesn't seem to ask for a really good card. If it said 256mb or better i can see how you are sol. have you tried changing your settings to 16 bit or 32 bit some games need those settings to work,

I know what "game" she is talking about. It just came out. It wont be affected by color settings. My Aunt has the same "game."

You may just need to download and install the latest DirectX 9 version (9.0c).

    try going here:

    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...a-9b6652cd92a3

Hit the download button and the web installer will make sure you are up to date.

Nice thought, but I have DirctX 10 installed. Installing it they said everything was good except the video card. I'm going to try Transporter's thing one more time and then I'm going to give up and go to bed.

Wow, long thread for such a simple problem.

The game doesn't support your video card so it won't work.

The game most likely uses a feature that your card isn't capable of.

I can't speak for your desktop since you didn't post its specs.

Also, don't loose any weight because..... You know.....

I find it hard to believe that a workout video game would be that demanding that your card would not play it decently.

That's what blew my mind also. But since it started as a Wii game maybe the graphics need to be top shelf so the person on the screen looks real.

I have a load of games I can't play on this POS 2001 gateway.

all the good war games, Guitar hero, I can't even play Scarface or the God father.

Good thing I still have Quake,Unreal tournament,Delta force,Thief the metal age...

    Well start believing.

At first I thought it didn't work, now I assume it does but runs poorly?

    Alright two things:

If it won't run at all it's most likely because your video card isn't supported.

If it does but runs poorly there are a few things you can do to try to speed things up:

Go into the BIOS and allocate as much memory as you can to the video card.

Get the newest drivers for your video card (And not the ones at the link above because those are for XP and you are running Vista).

Lower the video settings in the game.

You can also close all other non essential programs (Yahoo etc) and defragment your hard drive.

Personally I'd also run FRAPS before you make any changes, and then after to see what kind of performance improvements you've obtained.

It can probably play the game just fine. It has recent support for shader model and so on.

Installing it they said everything was good except the video card
I'm guessing the installer cuts short because the accelerator isn't officially supported, not because it won't work. I myself have run into this situation many times, mostly from running old stuff on new hardware that didn't exist at the time to be whitelisted. Getting around these things is pretty tricky, assuming that it is the install that is refusing to finish.

So, is the installer cutting you short, or is the executable not running? The first can be cir vented, the second not so much.

The game runs...It's working. I gt through the intro where Jnny McCarrthy and her pretty face runs around and says "You're wonderful for playing this game! Now you'll look exactly like me!" After that, when it goes to set up the profile, like to get started the screen goes black and all I have is an arrow. I hear music and the guide telling me I need to get started.
