"Nolan Ryan, one of Greenberg's partners and investors, has said that Tom Hicks will not have a say in baseball matters."
Good ing Riddance Tom Hicks. I hope you attach a giant ing rock to your ankles and jump into Lake Lewisville. Thanks for 10 years of and killing professional baseball in Arlington:

The press release was just sent out officially announcing that Tom Hicks will ask Major League baseball to approve his decision to grant exclusive rights to negotiate the sale of the Texas Rangers to Chuck Greenberg and Nolan Ryan. Negotiations will take place over the next 30 days, according to the release. Hicks, the release says, will retain a "significant investment" in the club. "Our family has chosen to negotiate with the group we believe will be best to protect and ensure the long-term positive future of this franchise," Hicks said in the release. "We understand that this is more than a transaction. You never really own a baseball team; you just have the right to be the trustee of a public ins ution. Nolan Ryan is the personification of the word trust; he and Chuck worked diligently and relentlessly to get to this point."

Thank you Jesus!
Just glad Tom Hicks didn't ass the Rangers on his way out and pick either of the other two bidders. Nolan being in the organization is vital to them ever being good.
Thank god Hicks is ing gone. He is living proof that money does not = intelligence.
Findog, what do you say to W returning to the ownership group in some way?![]()
Oh yeah and:
Rangers 1
Astros 0
Forevermore.
That would be okay. He should've stuck to baseball and never entered politics.![]()
This is the best possible news that could happen. Unfortunately the process is going to take too long for the new ownership to be in place to make an impact to start the coming season, but at least Hicks is done.
Looks like the negotiating period then followed by owners approval - probably a 3 to 4 month process. New ownership should be in place by the end of March at the latest right in time to finish training and open the season.
Nice to see Nolan back with the Rangers.
I believe Ryan was the President of Baseball Operations for the Rangers last season.
It should be good for the Rangers to get him in an ownership group though.
