Mormons, Beavers and Casinos... Oh My.
Yes, I'll be there...

BYU will play in the MAACO Bowl Las Vegas for the fifth consecutive season in what will the first-ever matchup between ranked teams in Las Vegas. The Cougars hoping that this year is better than the last. Last season, the Cougars lost 31-21 to Arizona and gave an uninspired effort. This year, the Cougars face an Oregon State team that was a win away from the Rose Bowl and should present some speed challenges for the BYU defensive front.
WHO TO WATCH: Max Hall, QB, BYU
All season the Cougars have been as good as quarterback Max Hall and it will be no different in the MAACO Bowl Las Vegas. Hall should have some success against an Oregon State secondary that is allowing 238.67 yards per game. However, the Beavers stiffened against the pass late in the season. They did not allow more than 201 yards in any of the final four games of the season.
WHAT TO WATCH: The front seven
BYU’s defense has been criticized for its lack of speed and it will be tested against Oregon State running back Jacquizz Rodgers, who ranks 17th in the country with 114.75 yards per game. Rodgers might be the smallest back the Cougars have faced this season and he’ll be tough for BYU’s bulky interior to find and keep up with.
WHY TO WATCH: BYU has thrilled before
The Cougars have a flair for the dramatic. In the first game of the season, they upset Oklahoma at the new Dallas Cowboys Stadium. At the end of the regular season, they defeated Utah in an overtime thriller. Since this is the only game outside of the BCS bowls with two teams ranked in the top 20, it promises to be yet another late-game thriller.
PREDICTION: Oregon State is going to bring more speed than BYU has seen most of this year and that’s going to be a problem for the Cougars defense. The Beavers combine a talented running game with a decent passing game and that will keep BYU off guard. While this will basically be a home game for the Cougars, I think Oregon State takes it 35-24.
Beavs will take it - Pac-10 is much better than the MW....This year

Pac-10 Football -- Conference Should Adjust, Throw Out Oregon State
In order to maximize compe ion and enhance overall team revenue allocations, it is time for the Pac-10 Conference to make some adjustments in its membership. This means a heartfelt, but nonetheless permanent, goodbye to Oregon State University.
When it comes to football, there is not a more pitiful program in all of Division 1-A. Forget conference championships and the Rose Bowl or any bowl game for that matter - OSU has not had a winning season for 26 years.
There was a time when the basketball team was compe ive, but as this season draws to a close, OSU is in a familiar spot, last place.
The Pac-10 conference has a policy of revenue sharing among the member schools. Money from television and bowl games is distributed equally to the schools in hopes that this will help to enhance parity.
What do you suppose OSU did with the money and what does OSU bring to the table for the rest of the conference members? We're not talking about a school loaded with Nobel laureates similar to that of Northwestern or Rice.
OSU and the Pac-10 would be better off with the school competing in the Big Sky or the West Coast conference, where OSU probably would compete for a championship.
The Pac-10 needs to step up, do the right thing and say "thanks for the memories" to Oregon State and then take the conference, financially and compe ively, into the 21st century. Vince Page, Both

Weren't they an Oregon victory away from going to the Rose Bowl?
BYU 45
OSU 27
yep, and if you think thats going to be the score, you need help.
I hate BYU more than anyone on this board, but I like them to win a close one tonight. This will be a nice tune up game to watch before the biggie tomorrow night![]()
i just don't see it...
BYU doing their part thus far.....
You knew they'd get a lucky td and have a 30mph wind for the 1st half? I can't believe the breaks byu is getting.
Incredible breaks for byu so far.
I'm on my way to 0-3 to start this thing off. Utah better win tomorrow.
I won't lie, byu is impressing me, but osu looks like . This is not the same Oregon state team...
lol
I would never ever look at my team the same again if they got smoked by a bunch of in mormons.
pac 10what a disgrace
Wow, good call. Final score is 44-20 BYU.
In the last 8 games vs. the MWC, the Pac-10 is 1-7.
LOL pac 10
what a BCS disgrace
LOLOLOL @ the supposed best conference in the nation.
Honestly has there ever been a poster on this website as consistently wrong as Tlong?????![]()
fail
Wow, that wind was crazy
That was the "almost" Pac-10 champ?? The Beavers were still hung over from the loss in Eugene. They're a better team than that and those two, six yard punts were great.
Side note: I found it hilarious that they reviewed the time on the clock at the end of the half for the damn MAACO Las Vegas Bowl (and you won't hear a thing about it because the game is not important). Yet, all non-Texas fans are livid after the Big XII Championship by saying, "a time review like that never happens...the game clock just runs out and the game is over."
I'd like to see who said that a time review never happens? It happened between ND and USC this season. Sounds like you're making up.

Take a look at the comments section, Mex. And by saying "never" (that's why I italicized the word in my previous post), I'm emphasizing the frustration by most who were upset that Texas didn't lose the game. The fact is replays for the game clock do happen...it's just not harped upon by the media, coaches and fans when the game isn't important.
