Hinrich's PER: 8.1WTF?
Calderon's PER: 16.6

I exaggerated the amount of ">>>>" by a good margin, obviously Hinrich isn't THAT much better than Calderon as a role player, but he IS better IMO(usually, this season is an anomaly for Hinrich though)..
Calderon is probably one of the top 5-10 most overrated players in the NBA..even most Raptor fans have grown to dislike having him on their team, which speaks volumes..he actually gets more hype outside of Toronto than he does in TO or in Canada in general..
He was a solid player in his 1st breakout season, but now he's a s of his former self..his assist/turnover ratio is due to the fact that Calderon is a simple passer..most of his assists come from catch&shoot plays and simple plays..he has very little ability to create for others, despite what the stats say..
He also has very little ability to penetrate..very little..
It's also common knowledge that Calderon is one of the worst defensive players in the NBA, if not THE worst defensive PG..he doesn't even take charges on the regular, so he really provides nothing at all on D..
He's also been very injury prone the past few seasons, including a serious injury right now, and it doesn't look good at all for his future..he has become fragile..
His positives are that he's a great shooter and that he doesn't try to do anything that he can't do..he's a smart player..
Hinrich isn't that good either, but his numbers look a lot worse because he's obviously in a slump..he's one of the best defensive guards in the NBA though AND he's usually a good shooter, so that's why I think he's a much better fit for the Lakers..
This year, his TS% took a HUGE dropoff from his career %, so he's obviously in a slump..I doubt the guy all of a sudden had a massive decline in his shooting ability..
Personally, I don't think the Lakers should make any trades, especially not for Hinrich or Calderon..their team is fine as it is..as bad as Fisher is, I don't think Hinrich or Calderon are huge upgrades..if it's for the bench, then ya, they would be upgrades over Farmar, but why would Buss want to take guys that are on very poor contracts like Hinrich and Calderon when he already has the best team in the NBA?..

Fair enough. But couldn't the bolded portion be applied to Hinrich as well?
As far as creating for others, that's not really an issue for the Lakers because they wouldn't have him doing much of that anyway. It's not like we are looking for a steve nash or CP3 style assist machine in our offense. Basically his conservative don't turn the ball over mentality is a great fit for us offensively as well as his good shooting. As far as penetration goes, everytime Fisher penetrates it's a turnover or a blocked shot waiting to happen. But again, we wouldn't really be asking him to do things like that either.

No argument from me here.

Again, can't the same be said for Hinrich? He only played 50 games last year and has been battling injuries this season as well.
Exactly. That's what I like about him. Like all role players he has his weaknesses of course. But he knows his limitations and doesn't play outside of them. And the skills that he does possess are what we need in a triangle PG. Offensively at least. His positives are that he's a great shooter and that he doesn't try to do anything that he can't do..he's a smart player..

I'd love the old Hinrich as our PG but lately he just hasn't looked the same even on defense. He's been constantly banged up these last few seasons and I haven't seen anything to indicate that's going to change anytime soon.

I agree. These points are definitely moot because the Lakers aren't getting either one. I think they are upgrades over Fisher but I agree that making any drastic changes would be risky. Our bench could definitely use some help though. At least one more consistent player would be nice.
part of it has to do with injury but a better fit for this team is hinrich by alot. defender, has size, can run a team if needed but not his strength. decent 3 point shooter but there to play defense. phil loves big guards because if there are cross matchups or switches its not really a big deal
Damn!Somebody give that man a spur. Good call.
