Good list stretch, I agree for the most part.
Told you the Eagles are contenders, brah. It's about time that dumbass front office got McNabb some real weapons.

i know some will disagree with me putting Rivers ahead of Brees, but I like Rivers' heart when he plays. that guy has some serious balls, especially when he went out there and still gave the Pats a good fight despite that totally ed up ankle. and to me, he seems to be a better playmaker when things break down, than Brees is. Brees has just been fortunate this year that nothing too bad has happened, but once they face a team that can get physical, slow the tempo down, and control the clock better (which I think the Eagles and Vikings can and will do if they face them in the playoffs), then i think hes gonna have some serious issues.

No, no, no. Rivers is mentally weak

I don't think I ever said they weren't a contender, I think I just mistakenly thought the Cardinals were better, which was dead wrong. IMO, the Cardinals and Eagles are the two most dangerous teams in the NFC right now.

The thing about McNabb is his weapons are better this year but not GREAT by any means. DeSean Jackson is good largely cause McNabb throws the best deep ball in the NFL. If he had the Cardinals receivers it'd be something.

And Aaron Rodgers is probably my #6. I just worry at how much he doesn't have fun out there. What's wrong with him? He never looks like some kid just slinging the ball around. It worries me.

That's why I didn't understand Philly balking at the 1st/3rd demands for Boldin. Macklin is a quality WR, with solid potential to be a #2 receiver, but Boldin is a #1 and gives you everything a receiver should, save for the break-away speed (but his toughness makes up for that).

If Philly had Boldin's move-the-chains, possession receiver ability to complement Jackson's vertical game, they'd be the favorites in the NFC, and be right their as favorites for the NFL.

Philly wasted yet another of McNabb's prime seasons by doing the best for its longterm while sacrificing the immediate (where they are built to win).

I wouldn't say they wasted another year, they're right in the thick of things and at their best are as good as anyone. If they make it this far, I'd much rather AZ see the Saints or Vikings in the NFC 'ship than the Eagles.

Jackson can be a solid #2 and Maclin a great slot. They really do have enough weapons now. Jason Peters has been a [pretty big bust from all the games I've watched though. They'd probably be better with Boldin rather than Peters. Although, when Peters got hurt vs the Raiders, the line was real bad.

The Eagles are already the NFC favorites. Hottest team in the NFC right now.

They have looked great, but when push comes to shove, do they have the over-the-middle options at wideout, or the toughness to get the needed yards-after-catch?

They are based around a good running game and the big play. In the playoffs the big play might be defended better. If such happens, will they be able to move the chains enough to get within FG range 4/5 times to offset the loss of the big play?

Boldin would have been an ideal fit for either Dallas or Philly. The RW trade was just a poor evaluation by the Dallas FO.

As for the Eagles, Celek is one of the most underrated TEs in the game. He's going to be a major factor in the playoffs and he's one tough SOB.

NFC is wide open and every team that's in has a legitimate chance to get to the SB.

I don think the Packers are contenders. It's a good thing that they wont have to play in Lambeau after the Wild Card round(assuming they make it out), cause playing in that weather will really hurt their chances.

    +1

He should have been a major factor in last year's playoffs. The Cardinals lose the NFC championship game if McNabb throws to Celek before his team is down by 18 points.

I haven't seen any Eagles games recently but I figured Peters and the rest of their line is playing better given how on fire their offense has been, could be wrong though. I saw one play where on 3rd and 15 the line defended a blitz extremely well and gave Jackson tons of time to develop a deep route.

Here's the thing, the Eagles could have both Peters and Boldin. All it costs them is Maclin (or the 1st that was used on Maclin) and the tight end they drafted with the 3rd round pick (not needed nearly as much with Celek.

McNabb with McCoy/Westbrook in the backfield, Boldin, Jackson and Celek upfield and Peters anchoring their O-line? Disgusting... Instead they have Maclin and a backup TE, two good players for the future, but not great impact players for now.

That's the difference between making the Super Bowl and winning the Super Bowl.

Their line is undoubtedly a question mark now that Jamaal Jackson is on IR.
