the Raptors also have to deal with this, luckily for our team the bench is deep enough to support these back-to-backs.

^^Yep. The Wizard and Spur game was a lot closer than I was expecting, especially surrounding all the drama in the Wizards' locker room right now. Not to mention their lousy record.

So, appropriate respect is necessary. It would be nice to win these games before we get to the tougher teams.

I'll be at the game and just as excited as ever. 5th year in a row seeing the Spurs take on the Raps. Last year we lost a close game but this year's team is playing much better now.

Ginobili always has big games against the Raps and considering how bad Toronto's defense hopefully the Spurs can get an easy win.

Manu ailing: Spurs guard Manu Ginobili played through a bad head cold that has kept him awake at night and affected his breathing.

His voice an octave or two lower than normal from the congestion he is fighting, Ginobili said he experienced some fatigue during the Spurs' victory, but not enough to make him consider sitting out the game.

“My throat, my nose,” Ginobili said as he began a postgame interview. “I can't breathe. You should probably stay away from me.

“I was a little tired. My muscles are sore, and I have a headache, but not that much (that) I couldn't play.”
Hopefully the sickness and the fall on that drive late doesn't prevent him from going tomorrow..

Spurs need to sweep another road back to back. Their confidence level in the team could be at an all time high against this defenseless Raps squad.

4:48 Mike Monroe: This time, it's about Tim Duncan, pulled from starting lineup
    Sunday January 3, 2010 4:48 Mike Monroe

4:49 Mike Monroe: Tim is healthy and will play ... just won't start ... and no, I don't know why, and neither did team spokesperson Tom James

Mike Monroe: My guess: He played 36:11 last night so Pop wants to have him fresh for the finish without his having to go more than 32 minutes in back to back games

TORONTO - Tim Duncan was pulled from the Spurs' starting lineup for Sunday's game against the Toronto Raptors at Air Canada Centre, and it appears to have nothing to do with injury.

Teams are required to list their starters 45 minutes before tipoff. The Spurs' official list had Antonio McDyess starting in Duncan's spot.

The last time Duncan came off the bench was on March 18, 2004, his first game back after missing three straight with irritation in his left patella femoral joint.

This time, Duncan is completely healthy.

Since a team spokesperson said no official reason was given for coach Gregg Popovich's decision to sit Duncan at the start, speculation centered on the Spurs captain's having played more than 36 minutes in Saturday night's game against the Wizards, in Washington, D.C.

Popovich has tried to limit Duncan to about 32 minutes per game this season. After Saturday's victory over the Wizards, his minute3s-per-game average stood at 31.9.
