Bill Russell and David Robinson immediately come to mind.
When I ask this question I'm not including one's that are out of their prime and are ring chasers(i.e.-Gary Payton). MJ would've if he didnt come back with the wiz. Any1 know any players that come to mind?
Bill Russell and David Robinson immediately come to mind.
Robinson
Bill Russell, Tommy Heinsohn, Sam Jones, Robert Parish. Cousy played a couple of games as a player-coach a few years after leaving the game as a champion. Has Don Nelson been introduced to the HoF yet?
Didn't Robert Parish stick around for a while with some other teams before retiring as a Bull?
He played for Charlotte after leaving the Cs then retired as a champion with the Bulls.
Oh right, forgot that it was Charlotte. Thanks.
Unless I read the OP wrong though, I think he is looking for players who made substantive contributions in a championship year then immediately retired afterwards.
The only guys who come to mind so far are Robinson and Russell, along with Heinsohn and Jones that you mentioned.
No love for the 40 year-old virgin, AC Green?
Would Shaq retire if he were fortunate enough to win this year?
my guess is yes.
I'm quite interested to see who Shaq will try and ride to a LOB if Bron doesn't work out.
AC is in the Hall of Fame?
