it's clean. i like it except i'd put thumbnails for the portfolio that you can click and instantly go to the photo in the slide instead of having to slide through all the photos to get to the one you want. it's all preference though.
I'm not the best website designer out there..and I'm definitely not the richest person to afford a custom website..........yet.
That being said, I have to make my own website using JS, CSS, and HTML I find in random places all over the web.
For the New Year, I thought I'd roll out a new design, something rather simple and (hopefully) with no learning curve.
I'd like to get some real world feedback on what you guys think...especially on the "PORTFOLIO" section.
Thanks!

BTW - I apologize to the viewers with 24"+ monitors. The design was made to fit 1024x768.
This is how "it's supposed" to look.

I love the minimalism; most webpages are entirely too cluttered with useless crap, but yours is to the point and looks great in my browser (Firefox 3.5 in Ubuntu 9.10 @ 1920x1080).
I strongly disagree. Thumbnails would be very distracting. If the filmstrip was really long, then that may be called for, but not one that can be cycled through in about a minute and is designed to show his entire portfolio.
wish i could find some sort of example of what i am thinking of. not a traditional thumbnail gallery.
but yeah it all boils down to personal preference. good job btw.
WOW this is the best porn site I have ever been on! I especially like the milk maid fantasy section and the game section, I can get it in her mouth almost every time!
Great job!
Very nice and clean. I would include some sort of instructions on how to navigate those pictures...believe it or not...some people will about it...maybe put something on the top right saying to use your mouse to view more pictures by moving it to the right or left.
And tell the girl in the black skirt I love her...
are you talking about something along these lines? if i could figure out how to do that, i wouldn't mind it. but like i said, i want something extremely simple.
that made me laugh.
i was actually about to insert a picture at the beginning of the gallery with instructions last night, but changed my mind.![]()
and funny you mention the girl in the black skirt (Sarah). we did the same shoot in a black bikini... hahaha.
I normally like clean and simple but this is too clean and simple, to the point of being boring.
Looks nice
Bit it needs more porno pics
I'm feeling the same way.
you're boring!
any suggestions?
- not into doing porno, sorry. i think it's degrading and that industry is pretty dang shady.
any suggestions?
I just sent a ton of traffic to your site. You can thank me later. I was going to ask for money but this Sarah sounds intriguing. I'll just take $1,000 in table dances.
Don't ask PM5K for suggestions. He's just going to tell you that the site needs more penis. That's his cure all for every web site.
![]()
we'll see when i check out Google Analytics later on, see how much traffic you sent me. haha.
and funny tou mention table dances...nah, better not say anything about Sarah.
![]()
maybe you should put up some gay porn links to ur site to increase traffic, thats what ledger does for his swordselling site.....
Come again? What was that? One more time please? I missed it.
Can a Hustle get a table dance?!
http://www.davidteran.com/portfolio/
is that better on instructions?
(hover mouse over first image)
Um...maybe like in the top right...right now it looks clunky...
And don't listen to those that are saying it's TOO simple...you're trying to show off your Photography skills...as in the photos are the main subject you're trying to convey...why would you detract the user with other graphic elements...
And feel free to send over those bikini pics...
Clean good job but I do agree with adding a thumbnail to the portfolio.
So why didn't you show that pic instead of the skirt?![]()
Depends what you're using the website for. If it's just for your portfolio and to have it readily available for prospective jobs or clients you've come into contact with already and to maybe show friends and family, it's fine.
But if you really want traffic and use it as a tool to get prospective jobs and clients you don't even know, I don't think there's enough content. Say for example, I'm a VP of a company looking for a fresh new photographer to do a shoot for our next ad campaign. And, I'm just surfing the net looking for relatively unknown photographers who have a new and unique style. And I happen to find your website. It's not enough for me to be wowed to want to contact you about the job.
Maybe add pages where you show the evolution of some of your pictures if you did special effects to them. IIRC, you did that football stadium one where you added a different things. Show the different pictures that were part of the end product. Or pages where you have a set of pictures from the same shoot. If you have a set of the volleyball player or tennis player, show all the good pictures from that set on one page. I little write-up on yourself probably wouldn't hurt either.
There definitely is something good about simple, clean, and straight to the point. But, there is also something to being memorable.
And, I'm no web designer. So, I really don't know how to tell you to improve it in terms of adding different web thingies, tools, widgets, what have you. I'm just saying if I got to your website and went through your pics, I might think it's ok, but I probably wouldn't come back again and I wouldn't think about it once I clicked away. It's not really memorable enough.
the bikini idea was a last second thing, and it didn't work out too well (we were rushed, and i didn't think, and i cut off her feet) thus the reason i didn't use it.
but enjoy, i guess.
i know exactly what you are saying, and that's the downfall of the simplicity of this site. it's difficult to balance "simple" and "WOW".
i will probably add an "about me" sooner or later, and more images of each set, as you suggested.
exactly what i am talking about... flash component with xml pulled images. you could probably pull the same effect off with css&xml.
