You only have a few more pics then you had last year, do you not take many pictures or is the film very expensive? I have a friend who is getting married I didn't see your price list can you post it?
Thanks.
I just think you need some sort of border or frame around the images to anchor it to the page. And it still retains it's clean look.
I also don't like the idea of the 'frame' being wider than just one image. It doesn't dress up your images to show 1 + 1/4 images when the page loads.

Check out Wix.com cool flash maker putting my site together there.

Your thinking of someone else who does wedding photos!
well if i can figure that out, i'll be working on that. i need some sort of mouseover JS code to make the thing pop up over when you put the mouse over something specific... and then i need some sort of "database" to load the images from. i'm not sure of the technical term for that.
the idea of the "frame" being wider than one image is so that people know there are more images, and can at least start looking at the next image, to scroll over.
i don't have any quotes on my website. if you would like some quotes, send me an email, and i can get you some.

thanks!
First of all, any time you run a business it's important to realize that you don't have to do everything. You're a very good photographer, you don't also have to be a good website designer, just pay someone else to do it and focus on what you do best. You can even check out Craigslist and see if you can setup a barter.
As for the site itself: Having just one image does clean it up even more, if you liked ultra simplicity this would be it, but that's not my taste. I'm all for simple and clean, but not ultra simple.
Adding the border does add something to it, so you might be heading in the right direction in that regard. If it were me I'd probably go with something like this:
The poorly done arrow on the right would indicate to the visitor that there are more pictures and hovering over that would initiate the movement. I wouldn't go with that red either, it's more of a pink but I'm sure it was just put there as an example, just like my arrow.
I don't know if you need thumbs on the main page, because you probably wouldn't put that many pictures on it, but on the portfolio there are a lot and it seemed like it was never going to end, and I had no idea how many were remaining, thumbs helps with that.
I am a little confused, is this a site to promote yourself, or to make money taking pictures?
I get the feeling it's one of those exclusive sites where you have to know someone to get an appointment. Most sites today are full of prices and cool group discounts, and specials on Framing and Mothers day 20% off if you order now, etc...
like this site...

these other sites have some good qualities can you see what they are?

Nice job, looks simple and clean.
But it would be a bit better in my eyes to see the photos of your portfolio a bit faster. It takes pretty long time for all these photos to scroll left.
It would be nice to have something like the buttons on the bar at the bottom of a mac. you know, the pictograms, when you go over them their size increases a bit? But then that your photos are small pictograms and when you go over them with your pointer they will get bigger.
that would be simple with css.
make same thumb dimensions, downsize in css about 40%, img tag hover = 100% (this is not syntax or code), and walla!
maybe i'm not explaining it so well.
i am looking into doing some of the suggestions i've got from this forum - that was the reason I asked for your opinions, to see what people liked and disliked.
my eventual goal is to be a commercial photographer, and not just someone in San Antonio, to be honest. not necessarily an "exclusive" site, because i made readily available a phone number and an email address to reach me, but i don't want to convey to people that i do baby portraits and baptisms.
KurtisKronk.com isn't that bad, i like his site.
as for the rest, my personal opinion is that they suck. they are trying to throw way too much information out there at the same time. that is something i was trying to avoid, honestly.
You take very good pictures.
wanna hook me up with 'tara'? lol
thank you! now i just need to get someone at ESPN and Nike to notice...haha!
ESPN, HOPEFULLY, will notice very, very soon.
how old are you? she's only 20, and i'm pretty sure she's taken right now.
i haven't talked with her in a few months, though. she has a dumb cell phone.
i'm 21,
how do you know her?
ahh, ok.
i know her from having taken photos of her when i first started taking pictures, almost two years ago.
she volunteered to be one of my first model dummies, and we became good friends after that.
cool, she is fine. you should let her know you're building her fanbase up haha.
I'm not exactly sure why, but i have always had a negative opinion of "professional" photographers. First off... Taking pictures is easy, a baby could do it. The only reason one persons' pictures look better than anothers' is because they have more expensive equipment. And no offense to you, david teran, but aren't you a little kid? Did your parents buy you all that equipment? Secondly, photographers have always seemed kinda sleazy to me.. Like they figured this is the perfect opportunity for them to take scantily clad pictures of pretty women and not seem like the perv they are. I'm not saying you are a pervert, david, but do you really think sarah would want you posting her bikini pictures to show these real-life, true perverts on spurstalk? Not to mention, you did post those pics in almost a gloating fashion. Just reaffirms my opinion of "professional" photographers.
I don't remember thispego being a troll, but that was a pretty trollish post. I think I'll pass on feeding him...
Honest opinion. No troll
damn whatup HATER!?
anyhow i'm no photographer but there's a reason it's a profession and a hobby. professionals know their which also includes lighting which definitely isn't an easy aspect of the job.
keep hating cause your jealousy is surely brighter than the stars in the sky.
Good luck! there is so many out there sometimes I think you need a gimmick to standout but your not the gimmick type. So time will tell if reputation word of mouth can do it for you!
You do make a good point but ask yourself, when you need a new coffee maker do you go to Wall mart or to Star bucks? I know the cheesy site with all the cheesy 10% and senor citizen's discount deals looks low class and all but how much business do you lose by not getting the money from your average wall mart shopper?as for the rest, my personal opinion is that they suck. they are trying to throw way too much information out there at the same time. that is something i was trying to avoid, honestly.
also props for taking the "negative" feedback well , many people around here start a topic like this then get all butt hurt when they don't like what they read, like the "Do you like my wallpaper?" topics. they always say let me know what you think good or bad then they call you a when you criticize something. It happed to Alamo50 before.
Have you asked Elf Louise if she wants some photos done while she fights off the Cancer it could make her day and maybe promote your work.
So if it's so easy Thispego, tell us what settings HonestFool used to take some of his pictures, how he had the lighting setup, etc.
I'll give you a half hour to try to Google it, lol...
I am Tom makes a good point, but I just don't think that's the type of work he wants to do, and I do see a difference between the two.
Right now he's doing cool ass , just look at the chick in the parking lot and all his lights setup and everything, now imagine turning around and doing the wedding of an 80 year old couple...
