The contest for who gets the next shot at B.J. Penn became crystal clear on Tuesday. Frankie “The Answer” Edgar, not Gray Maynard, will get the next shot at the UFC lightweight belt, presumably at UFC 112 in Abu Dhabi on April 10.
Considering Edgar's only recorded loss is to Gray Maynard, and both have mostly decision wins...what made Edgar the best possible opponent to knock BJ Penn off? That's how I always think of #1 contenders (the person most likely to put up a good fight with the champion).

I guess after BJ obliterates Edgar, he'll be known as the greatest lightweight ever and can move up to welterweight only to have all of his bones broken against GSP if they aren't broken by other welterweight contenders. /end rant

I dislike Penn as much as the next guy, but no way is Edgar gonna go more than 3 rounds. If ever there was a "contending" fighter I could see Penn tossing around and having his way with...it's Edgar.

This is all about legacy and the UFC giving Penn a glorious win before he ends up chasing GSP at WW.

Frankie Edgar is straight outta Jersey Shore. I saw him on an episode of True Life. I wouldn't care if he got his head beat in either

Never understood the rampant BJ Penn hate. I've always liked him.

I really don't see the point of Penn ever fighting GSP again, especially since GSP's rep will be put out there again, with BJ whining about Grease non-stop.. But there are better fights out there for Penn at WW. Fitch, Alves, Koscheck, Swick, Hardy, just to name a few...

    All interesting fights for BJ..
