I know Pop loves Georges game, and at the rate he's going, and with the confidence he seems to be building with every game, do you think we will be able to keep him after his rookie contract is up? I'm sure he's gonna be getting some pretty good offers from some other teams..i would hate to lose him, but i have confidence with Pop, he always seems to make bonds with players that leads to long term loyalty..seems like George is a stand up guy, hopefully he's willing to sacrifice a little bit and make it a career with us. What do you all think?

George is one of the few young guys Pop hasn't screwed up.

Wish the same could be said for Ian Mahinmi.

As for George staying, I'd say it's very likely because I don't think Parker will re-sign with San Antonio. I think Parker is sick and tired of Pop and his BS.

George will stay, he's part of the future for the Spurs and has the tools to be a damn good starting PG/SG in the future.

I think it depends on the evolution of his game. PG? SG? Defensive specialist?...
Right now he can't ask for a starting PG deal in a good team, so time will tell, but I personaly sees him as a J.Terry will a D, a better IQ and playmaking abilities!! lol
I mean coming off the bench either as PG or SG or to shut down a player...

I that role he won't find a better place than SA...

+ It also depend on TP's future

    Well said.

It depends how Hill evolves. I'm still not convinced he's a point guard. Right now he's a combo guard who can play both positions but hasn't mastered either. I think he could either be a starting PG, a starting SG or a quality combo guard off the bench. Right now I'd guess the third option but he definitely has a chance to become a starter if he keeps getting better.

Didnt they give him an extension!!!

oh wait, they exercise his contract extension, keeping him till 2010-2011. Im sure he is def. a priorty for the spurs and will do what they can to keep him, because ultimately he is part of the future going forward after tim and manu hang it up and the rest call it quits (Finley, Ratliff, McDyess) so they'll have money to pay him! I think he complimants Parker well, plus he is grasping the Pop System

Hill is gonna be one of the better combo guards in the league in a few years, I can't see the spurs letting go of this kid, especially due to his tough D

I think George Hill will stay and could make a great starting backcourt using Tony/Hill.

He'll stay. I don't think there's any way the Spurs let him go. He will be a vital part of this team for years to come.

We've talked about this idea in a few different threads in the past (at least one of them started by you), and I agree that this is a very distinct possibility. This backcourt would provide youth, athleticism, and a decent offensive/defensive balance. In the long run I think it would necessitate bringing in at least one other backup PG, unless you wanted to simply bring in another combo guard like De Colo and have a 3-man PG/SG carousel.

Hill will definitely stay here and I think he has a bright future ahead of him, but he still needs to develop alot, he isnt there yet. Some fans even say he can replace TP and that Hill is even better, well that's BS, he is far from close to TP.

I hope we can see alot from him.

Hill is a 15-20ppg scorer when given starter minutes, he's a tough defender, and he's still improving. As long as RC and Pop are around, they'll find a way to keep him. He'll still be here when the big three are gone IMO.

I like him better coming off the bench and finishing games with Parker...
What Pop (and RC) are trying to do this year, makes me think that the "balanced" level between the starting five and the bench is the future of the NBA...
We will always need a great second unit and he could be a leader the same way Manu has been (and still is!

It's another subject, but I think that's once again, the spurs are "pioneers" in that matter, they were among the first to trust foreign players, having a big 3 and this year's bench average is just amazing!
