Not about drugs....at all. John's son Julian brought home a painting from school, and he asked Julian what it was. Julian said "It's Lucy in the sky, with diamonds". Lucy was a classmate, and until she passed away recently, did the British talk shows every year on the anniversary of the release of Sgt. Pepper. John admitted in 1980 that the imagery was lifted from Alice in Wonderland, a children's book, and that the song, for him, was a conscious attempt at poetry.

Not necessarily a good song to listen to high but the lyrics and supposed story behind it are greatness.



Apparently it's about a real or fictional acid/mushroom trip where someone in the band/someone fictional thought they had an alien encounter and freaked the out. Pretty funny. There are plenty of good tool songs to listen to while under the influence. Their cover of No Quarter is outstanding.
