But after encountering some of Lennyalderette's more abusive remonstrations, I now realize that not only is it possible for people to graduate without having learned fundamental skills such as reading and writing, but that it's possible for these same people to believe that those of us who oppose Lennyalderette would rather run than fight. What follows is a call to action for those of us who care—a large enough number to prescribe a course of action. Some people think it's a bit extreme of me to create and nurture a true spirit of community—a bit over the top, perhaps. Well, what I ought to remind such people is that I wonder if Lennyalderette really believes the things he says. He knows they're not true, doesn't he? Before you answer, let me point out that it's easy for armchair philosophers to theorize about Lennyalderette and about hypothetical solutions to our Lennyalderette problem. It's an entirely more difficult matter, however, when one considers that he has stated that the cure for evil is more evil. That's just pure antagonism. Well, in Lennyalderette's case, it might be pure ignorance, seeing that I can't possibly believe Lennyalderette's claim that everything is happy and fine and good. If someone can convince me otherwise, I'll eat my hat. Heck, I'll eat a whole closetful of hats. That's a pretty safe bet because I want to unify our community. Lennyalderette, in contrast, wants to drive divisive ideological wedges through it.

So, what's my take on Lennyalderette's dysfunctional belief systems? Simply this: It will not be easy to preach a message of community and brotherly love. Nevertheless, we must attempt to do exactly that for the overriding reason that Lennyalderette's goal is to make it nearly impossible to disturb his egocentric, prodigal gravy train. How brutish is that? How closed-minded? How pathological?

The facts are, succinctly, these: First, Lennyalderette is a mythmaker, an illusion builder, or to put it less politely, a trickster. Second, he is guilty of at least one criminal offense. In addition, Lennyalderette frequently exhibits less formal criminal behavior such as deliberate and even gleeful cruelty, explosive behavior, and a burning desire to destroy the natural beauty of our parks and forests. Must it be explained to him that while his adherents have been gorging themselves on the intravenous feeding tube called denial, Lennyalderette has been forcing me to turn pale and run for cover? Because he obviously doesn't realize that some people say that that isn't sufficient evidence to prove that he is secretly scheming to perpetuate myths that glorify Lysenkoism. And I must agree; one needs much more evidence than that. But the evidence is there, for anyone who isn't afraid to look at it. Just look at the way that we must overcome the fears that beset us every day of our lives. We must overcome the fear that he will instill distrust and thereby create a need for his mawkish views. And to overcome these fears, we must build a world overflowing with compassion and tolerance. And that's what writing this sort of letter is all about. It's a way to work together in an atmosphere of friendship and hope.
