pops easing him back in the rotation, he only had 6 minutes
RIP ratliff getting any minutes.
RIP mahinmi ever getting to see the floor again.
RIP haislip ever seeing the floor (dont mind this one personally)
RIP tough defense.

Even though you don't say it well, I agree with others that he is no longer needed. Don't get me wrong, he certainly helps this team more than he hurts it, but at this point what he brings is a luxury. Other players (that are not currently on the Spurs roster) could strengthen the squad in other areas that need it.
very well said
bonner is valuable for offense - he's basically a SG, but since he's 7ft he creates mismatches. problem is he gets put in at C and gets rolled over on defense.
I agree, we dont need him....
I love having Bonner in the lineup, and I don't think he affects the defense at all since Ratliff and Ian weren't getting serious minutes anyways..I would love if the Spurs traded Bonner-Finley and whoever else to acquire a legit big, but when he's in the lineup, he's useful coming off the bench IMO..
Bonner could have definitely helped with the spacing in some of the losses, there's no doubt about that..
i would not say hes 'valuable on offense', lets be honest here the ONE thing he can do is spot up 3's. he is basically a tall Steve Kerr, nothing more. and hes a consistent liability on the defensive end.
Bonner's role should be 5-10 minutes a game, out there when we run plays needing a 3pointer and spot situations like that.
thats it.
What does that change?..
Having him out there for 10 minutes a game and when we need 3-point shooting IS valuable to the offense..that's the role I like him in too and he clearly helps when we need that..
The guy shoots a ridiculous 45% for a big man shooting 3s..that can always help..
I was not saying the Spurs don't need him, I was saying it would be smarter to fill other needs. But I would not just dump him for nothing.
More like an SF on offense and defensively, he's a PF by default, because he lacks the size and/or strength to guard C's and the quickness to guard SF's. He's not 7'0'' (I've never understood why people do this with basketball players, just round up from 6'10'' to 7'0'' like it's nothing. You don't ever hear people say if someone is 5'10'' "he's a 6'0'' footer").
Barefoot Bonner is 6'8'' 1/2, so I'll give him somewhere in the 6'9'' range (could be a quarter, a half, who knows exactly) in shoes, but more important than his not so overwhelming vertical listing for a PF is his lack of length. For example, Ratliff is probably less than an inch taller than Bonner barefoot, but he's clearly got a much longer wingspan, so it gives the impression or feels like he's actually closer to 7'0''. That and the fact that he plays like a traditional big man, at least defensively.
No matter how useful he is in some games during this season-I don't want to see him more than 10mpg in the playoffs. Lets not all forget how ing awful he was against the little ponys last playoffs. Until he proves he can do anything worthwhile in a game that matters he's still on my list and matt BoNer.
Spurs are 1-0 in 2010 when Bonner plays. Just sayin'.
As soon as he came in and missed the shot and did not defend, Pop pulled him and brought in Blair back! I don't understand we lost our 15 point lead and you bring in Bonner who does nothing instead of playing Ratliff, Mahimini, or Hairslip which the Spurs were playing well while he was injuried so why mess up the chemistry and throwing Bonner in there! WTF!
Agreed!
lol Spur fan trashing Bonner when he hasn't played in a month.
I agree with Harlem here...Bonner is useful off the bench but if a good deal for a solid role player comes up he should be moved.
ive been saying the same exact thing about him since like 2008.
Well if you were saying he has sucked this year you would be wrong.
I completely agree with you. If there's one thing you can count on when the game matters, Boner will play horribly.
Yeah, he'll always be on my choke list until he proves his worth in the playoffs. I could give a less about the regular season and giving the guys props for kicking ass during a game against a sub .500 team.
Yeah, he can spread the D and can get some 3's in, but he is a soft marshmallow and mincemeat to the real compe ion. He is what he is. As long as he is helping the Spurs and not hindering their D, I'm okay, but when the other team starts abusing him with shot after shot, it's painful to watch.
The first 3 are non-factors and the last doesn't exist sans Bonner either. We aren't winning anything with a broken Tony and Manu regardless of the minutes that Bonner gets. This is pretty obvious seeing as how we got stomped in several games with Fin and Bonner out of action (and in action too).
Spursfan needs to stop making scapegoats and just realize that our starting 5 is worse than our bench. Until that is resolved, we get nowhere.
hes been playing well this season. for bonner. thing is, weve seen bonner at his very best...and its not bad. but i think the team needs what ratliff and mahinmi bring (interior defensive presence, shotblocking, finishing ability, rebounding) alot more than what bonner brings (spot up 3 point shooting)...we know what bonner brings and hes not going to get better or improve..but we have no idea what mahinmi's potential is. hes played in ONE game for like 15 minutes the entire year. his skillset is for more important and more needed by this team right now than what teh bonner brings.
+1. Making scapegoats out of role players is a lame thing to do.
He's back and yet I don't know what hoagie to eat for lunch tomorrow
As soon as Bonner was in the game West scored two easy baskets.
