Many thanks for the translation. Earlier someone mentioned controversial comments he made in a previous interview. Anyone know what that was all about?
Great win against N.O.!!!
haha, pink floydA walk on part on the war or a lead role in a cage?
Lead role in the war.

Thx Uru ! I appreciate the time you took for doing that.
BTW I hate u you destroyed my fantasy team![]()
I did no such thing. What the are you talking about? He doesn't use this right often? He's far more outspoken than either Duncan or Parker. He has no problem consistently ripping the team, but I've never heard him put a game on his shoulders (like Duncan has done many a time and many of those times it clearly wasn't his fault) and say "this one is on me". Constant excuses, constant not so veiled messages/threats to the organization, but limited and consistently inconsistent production.
What's wrong with calling him "this guy"? I don't know these guys personally, they're not my buddies, so there's no reason to be calling them by their first name.
example?
Here we go again. You can rip Parker, the guy who plays a lot more minutes and has shouldered a bigger load (not in big games/moments, but through the grind of the NBA season) over the years, but say a word about Ginobili and the vast majority are up in arms. I've never understood this.
Just listen to his post-game and post-practice comments. Not that he can single-handedly cure what ails the team, but for a guy who has no problem listing off a litany of problems, how about producing more?
Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge Ginobili fan. When he's physically right and on his game, I don't think there's a more spontaneous or exciting player in the league. I just find he get's far more leeway from Spurs fans, not only than Parker, but than he deserves.
This would have more substance if I were the kind of fan who would constantly rip Tony. Unless you're directing it to others in the thread. I know Manu is under performing and I don't mind people calling him out for that. What I wanted to know is when these things you mentioned happened. Especially when you put the word 'constant' there, it sounds dubious.

I was directing it to no one specifically, it was just a general comment. I've just told you when they happen and you can now add his Spanish (unless his words are being lost in translation?) interviews to that.
His honesty is refreshing, but at the same time if you're going to make the comments he makes, then you at least better be a consistent contributor. He's constantly up and down and relative to his considerable ability is having a season that borders on terrible.
I think you're just adding YOUR personal interpretations and judgments that by no means can be duplicated... It's unique... yours only... thanks for sharing your thoughts![]()
No offense to any of you, but I'd think more of your responses if none of you didn't have obvious, inherent biases on the subject. It's either an Argentinean Ginobili fan, a Hispanic/Spanish Ginobili fan of some sort, or a fan that has a thing for Ginobili.
and what's wrong with that? another unique judgment wherever is it from? last time I checked he stills plays for the Spurs and this is a Spurs board...![]()
It's real simple, you see, you're too far in the trees to see the forest. Don't attempt to paint me as a "Ginobili hater", I've already given him myriad compliments. But just because I'm a fan of his and a fan of the team, it doesn't mean I agree with everything he says or does.
and from what I have posted before what proof do you have to asses such statement without it being obviously just your individual point of view?![]()
I love when people say that. Of course it's my individual point of view, who else would it be? It's a message board. Should I write before every comment I make "this is just my individual point of view"? No. It goes without saying.
that's what it's all about mate!![]()
so when manu says the team is underperforming and needs to improve, he's ripping his teammates? throughout the q&a (on his forum, not even to the media) he says that he is struggling, and he never singles anyone else out. what should he say, "even though ownership overspent to upgrade the team and we are in (4th?) place, everyone is playing great except me"? is that really your view of this season? you make it sound like manu took all the credit when the spurs were winning comfortably. he's just stating the obvious, that this team needs to improve to live up to expectation and that he has to contribute better scoring.
there are three questions (im not sure if all were translated) taking shots at other players on the team, and manu dismissed one entirely and defended his teammates while minimizing himself (blair on one, jefferson tim and tony on another)
I dont see manu fans questioning whether or not he's had a bad season, and accept that you dont like how he handles himself publicly (talks too much or too honest?), but to state that he rips his teammates is ridiculous, just as its ridiculous to say that he gets more leeway than the rest of the big 3. tony gets a lot of hate too but, in the last two years at least, manu's got tony beat on trade threads. the only trade duncan threads are from spurs fans that like him so much they think he deserves better than SA. manu will never top duncan's status to this team, and for the past couple seasons tony clearly passed manu (like you said, he plays more and has been shouldering a heavier load while manu's role has diminished)
what's funny is that both tony and pop are also critical of the team in interviews (as a team), and that if anyone should be out of leeway, its our big acquisitions, jefferson, mcdyess (who are being outplayed by keith bogans and dejuan blair, FYI)
I didn't mean individually singling players out, I meant he's collectively ripping the team. And he is. Like I said, I have no problem with that, so long as the player in question is a consistent performer. He isn't. So before he goes speaking in broad terms about the teams struggles for the umpteenth time, how about he starts playing good consistently first? That's all I'm saying.
He definitely get's more leeway than Parker and probably more than Duncan. Though in the case of Duncan, I'm not sure what one could possibly have to gripe about. But yeah, Parker struggles and it's "he's soft" or "he's not playing hard", Ginobili struggles and it's "he needs more time" or "but look at that pass he made!". Even with plantar faciitis, logging relatively heavy minutes recently, Parker is still pushing through, gutting it out and saying "I can't look at myself in the mirror and say I can't play". He's a lot tougher and more committed than he's given credit for and you can be sure if Ginobili made those comments, we'd be hearing "what a warrior he is" or "he's the most compe ive player on the team".
Do you even follow the team? People have (rightly, don't get me wrong) relentlessly ripped Jefferson and McDyess all season. Parker's been ripped, Duncan has one off game and it's "he's old", but Ginobili can play like on a fairly consistent basis and I don't see him getting anywhere near the same treatment. Face it, he's the golden boy.
You must be following a different board than I am because Manu has had his fair share (and even more) of criticisms on this board these past few years. There are always going to be diehard Manu fans who won't acknowledge his mistakes as there will be Tony fans who won't acknowledge Tony's mistakes. But I think for the most part even the loyal Manu fans in this board have had no problem calling him out these past years and are even open to trading him if there's a right piece out there.
And I still don't know when Manu collectively ripped this team. What would your definition of ripping be? If George Hill says that the team is playing bad, that the defense is not what it has been, would you call that ripping?
TD 21, you are more or less ripping the comun sense.
urunobili told you: and from what I have posted before what proof do you have to asses such statement without it being obviously just your individual point of view?
And you answered:
I love when people say that. Of course it's my individual point of view, who else would it be? It's a message board. Should I write before every comment I make "this is just my individual point of view"? No. It goes without saying.
Avoiding the subject! And the proofs?!
I'm not saying you're wrong, but from what I've read, that hasn't been the case.
Constantly and I've already answered twice "when" he ripped the team. My definition would be his constantly harping on the defense, lack of consistency, etc. For the umpteenth time, I have no problem with that in theory, but at some point shouldn't the player in question be playing well before expounding on the teams issues?
'Comun'? 'Proofs'? For future reference, it's common and proof. The word proof is akin to the word beaver. For example, it doesn't matter if you're talking about 50 beaver, it's still beaver, as opposed to beavers.
I didn't avoid anything, genius. I said...
Just listen to his post-game and post-practice comments.
I've just told you when they happen and you can now add his Spanish (unless his words are being lost in translation?) interviews to that.
Well I can understand the Spurs being cautious and not wanting to resign him at this time but I also wouldn't be mad at Manu if he did what he felt was best for him even if that meant leaving the Spurs. Like he said this is a business and each will do what's best for them.
Fair enough. You and I have probably read different threads.
Okay. I get that, although I still don't think 'ripping' is the word for it. In fairness to Manu though, what do you expect him to say if he always gets these kinds of questions from fans or reporters? Avoid them? Pretend that nothing is lacking with the team?
Indeed.
Good point. You're right, 'ripping' probably isn't the word for it. Critical is probably a more accurate depiction.
Hey WTF?![]()
That was my personal touch, the real question was: "Tail of lion or head of mouse"?
But I don't know if that phrase is used in the States so I plagiarised Floyd.![]()
