No prob---though I think this kind of inquiry is misguided. Rather than point the finger at who was "in charge" at some time, it'd be better to analyze and put into context actual policies and economic data.

Why is this the Bush recession?

Why wasn't 2001 the Clinton recession?

Why wasn't 1981 the Carter recession?

Funny how all three had democrats running congress....

I'd say they are all democrat recessions!
Actually, Bush was still calling it the Clinton recession in 2002 . . . .

    Bush says he inherited recession
Bush, Cheney take advantage of revised GDP data to say economy a mess when they took office.

    August 7, 2002: 6:04 PM EDT
By Mark Gongloff, CNN/Money Staff Writer

NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - Although last week's revision of U.S. gross domestic product data for 2001 may have been old news for the economy, it was something of a stroke of luck for President Bush, who has since used it as evidence that he inherited an economic mess when he took office.

Bush and Vice President Cheney, in separate speeches Wednesday, both claimed the U.S. economy was already in recession when they were inaugurated in January 2001, implying the blame for the slowdown rested on President Clinton's shoulders.

Both men also made assurances that they had a handle on the problems facing the economy.

"When I took office, our economy was beginning a recession," Bush said in a speech at a Mississippi high school. "Then our economy was hit by terrorists. Then our economy was hit by corporate scandals. But I'm certain of this: We won't let fear undermine our economy and we're not going to let fraud undermine it either."

    . . . .

House and Senate were Republican until 2006.
    Technically true.

However, as you know, I don't count RINO's as republicans.

Republican strategy: Do our best to destroy the country and then sit back while the people vote the Democrats into power to try and clean up their mess. Then blame the Democrats for not getting it cleaned up faster, conveniently denying who broke everything in the house in the first place.

I ain't cleanin up . I don't get paid enough to clean up. Janitors make more than I do. Sad but true. We are in the Obama administration years now. The Bush administration is over. It was over when Obama was sworn in as president. People need to get the over Bush. Obama is the man in charge now. He needs to step up to the in' plate and do his job. If he didn't want all of this responsibility, then he should haven't been elected. You have to take the good with the bad, Barry. Obama knew that Bush ed up America while he was president. Obama knew what kind of he was getting into. It's just sad that Obama has to be a crying and blame everything on Bush all the time.

hahaha no wonder you don't have a real job, and you have a degree, right? sad.

by using the flawed logic you have, any company that spirals downward would never have sound management. a new manager would come, things would be the same while new company policies would be in put to work, then the guy would be put out to dry for not fixing it fast enough.

and if you ever see the guy talk and not just whatever clips glen beck plays for you, he made it pretty clear "it's going to get worse before it gets better".

the guy before always gets the blame in politics if things are going south. dana perino practically said that 9/11 happened during the clinton years just a couple of months ago. so get over it.

    Correction.

republican strategy = democrat strategy = say whatever will get you into power, give your team 100% of the credit for anything good, give the other team 100% of the blame for anything bad

No doubt...what a colossal failure the GOP strategy of further tax-cuts would have been....the Bush tax cuts did little to stimulate private job growth during a economic expansion...

I gave Obama a year, but every reform he has promised has been a monumental -up, from giving the credit companies extra time to jack up their rates, to keeping the status quo in the financial sector, to watering health reform down to essentially welfare for the insurance companies, and so on. Bush gave him a horrible situation no doubt, but Obama has done absolutely nothing to fix it and some of his solutions (i.e, the senate health bill he's cheerleading for) seem worse than the problems (which is saying a lot, considering how broken our current healthcare system already is).

You know that what you said makes absolutely zero sense, right?

When you have an economic expansion, you generally have job growth. How can you differentiate job growth from expansion vs. tax cuts? Linkage would be nice before you just pull something outta your ass and proclaim it gospel.

Some democrats are pushing for Obama to propose further tax cuts to try and save the dems asses. I think he'll do it and when he does I think you will say what great policy it is.

In 2001, the Bush tax-cuts amounted to a 1.35 trillion redistribution of wealth to the very rich and corporations...

The right-wing lying machine continues its destructive, polarizing labors of love.

Magic Negro has spent his first year totally pre-occupied with handed to him by dubya and head. that right-wing lying machine is now saying it 100% Magic Negro's responsibility for causing.

Right-wing noise is nothing if not continually appealing to total dumb- , red-state bubba, racist ignorance.

Yeah but all they are worried about are the independents buying their load of .

Naturally our government should be determined by what stimulates expenditures the most, or to which we can apply the largest multiplier. Liberty be damned. Great ing argument. Let's just bend over for the Fortune 500 now.
