My brother needs a windows os on his pc. He had vista but I dunno what he did but it no longer booted up. He got a free os (ub something) linux base os.

That works but it overrode everything on the hard drive. Which he didn't care but the free os is a temporary fix till he can get windows back.

I see on torrents and stuff to get them but I don't have the time or patience to go threw it now, so what's your charge?

You want Xp back on I will do it for an old HD you have lying around or a 25 pack of DVDr's

If you want Vista back on I need to make a boot up disk so bring some blank CD roms


You want all his old data back bring a 12 pack and some place to put it. external drive, flash drive, blank dvdr's etc...

For some smoke and 10.00 dollars I will install a working system and 1,200.00 in software.

Maybe I am old school but when your an old disabled Army vet you get what you can. I could always start begging Joe Chalupa and Leonidas but they tend to post personal in debate forums when I push their buttons.

Some people like it because it's simple. I don't use adobe CS3 I use a basic 1999 print shop pro it's easier for me, but I still install the good in case they want to use it.

I want to get away from windows myself but 99% of all laptops I mess with have it. If everyone today changed operating systems or went with MAC I would be broke as .

or you could, say... continuing education and brush up on new OS's which are more reliable to your consumer base and the consumer in general.

change is inevitable and sooner or later you will be completely broke if you think micro is going to be around to play hardball with freeOS's that have already surpassed that crap winOS.

You might have a point I could try and learn the good , but then i would feel obligated to start working on those other notebooks, also I retired from the laptop business awhile back my apartment is to small and I do enough contract work for other people who just want data off hard drives that alone is time consuming. until i move into a house or get the medication I need to not be in pain 24/7 I will just help friends and posters from ST with what I can provide.

In fact I would do it for free it's my girlfriend that is always on my ass for not making anything from it. Sometimes i spend up to 16 hours trying to make 20.00 dollars.

We installed ubuntu last night. He said he wouldn't mind it but the resolution is all whack. Its too big and all we found was 2 options and both were huge becuase they were low resolution.

Like all the webpages were huge he has to scroll side to side like 3 pages and on windows it was all showing fine.

Like all the webpages were huge he has to scroll side to side like 3 pages and on windows it was all showing fine.

Not that easy with this OS, We google and it seems alot of users have this issue,
I tried the drivers but guess what? they are meant for windows not this free ware and it will not recognize the file.

I tried to do what was said, even followed a youtube vid on how, but still no dice.

ok I got it, I guess when I did the first install something went wrong and no matter what I did it did not fix it.

So I reinstalled it and this time it auto updated itself and I ran threw the I did before and it work.
