Colts face big challenge against ‘America’s Team’

INDIANAPOLIS (AP)—Move over Dallas, the New Orleans Saints are the new “America’s Team.”

With New Orleans about to make its first Super Bowl appearance in franchise history, memories of Hurricane Katrina still lingering and close ties between the team and the city’s rebuilding effort, Colts players understand why the Saints are this year’s sentimental favorite.

They just want to play the role of spoiler.

“There’s a reason America is pulling for New Orleans, and why wouldn’t they? They’ve been through a lot,” Indy safety Antoine Bethea(notes) said. “Sports tends to pull people together, so it’s commendable for New Orleans to be, as I guess you’d say, America’s team right now. But at the same time, we’re going to go out there as the Indianapolis Colts and play ball.”

The reach of New Orleans’ fans goes all the way to the highest levels of the White House.

“You know, I think both teams are terrific,” President Barack Obama told ABC News. “I guess I am rooting a little bit for the Saints as the underdog, partly just because when I think about what’s happened in New Orleans over the last several years and how much that team means to them. You know, I’m pretty sympathetic.”

The Colts know they’re still the favorite in at least one state, Indiana, and one city, Las Vegas. Bookmakers have installed them as a 5 1/2 -point favorite, prompting Obama and others to pull for an upset.

“He’s en led to his opinion and why wouldn’t he be rooting for them?” Bethea said of Obama’s decision to cheer for New Orleans. “Like I said, the city has been through a lot. But the Colts, man, we’re going to go down there and give them a show.”

I'm in no way a Cowboys fan but hearing the annual "Move over Cowboys, ________ is the real 'America's' Team" just gets old. That's not something to just throw around like "who's been the most relevant the past couple years". I mean that's who they are. That's THEIR nickname. It's not like it's a term invinted for whichever team can earn it and Dallas has had it this long. If they're ever as crappy as a team can get and the Saints or Steelers or whoever wins 4 straight Superbowls, it'll still be their nickname

again, I don't like the cowboys, that goofy smile mother er miles austin and jerry jones

This article is stupid. Sportsnation had 60% of voters pulling for the Colts and "America's Quarterback" Peyton Manning.

essie nail polish like OPI has a starting price of eight dollars and contain .5 oz of product but only last about five days without chipping, but I also found that when IMG_6057painting the nails with Essie no matter what color you use, you have to apply more and thicker coats than the standard two

    This....

Besides the Steelers have more hardware, they deserve the moniker more.

The Colts are the Taylor Swift of the NFL. Even if New Orleans is a feel-good story, nobody is going to make villains out of Indy.

And the most rooted for Super Bowl team in NFL History was the 07 Giants. They were truly America's team for one night.
How the did my girlfriend get bought into this?
