Monopoly Boards Are Circular Now. Circular!
For its 75th anniversary, Monopoly's getting a massive update, pitting brazen and new against proven and old: Circular board or quadrilateral? Cash currency or fake credit cards? This is the stuff of ruined relationships.
In the monopoly wars, I'm imagining there will be two camps, not four. there will be people who are OK with the circular board and the switch to digital currency, and people who are fine with neither—the purists and the pragmatists. There will be a middle ground in this fight, but it will be drenched in blood.
I think I might be one of the purists. I get that the new design makes a bit more sense, and that giving players credit cards is less trouble than managing a bank full of cash. But you know what would be even less trouble? A video game.
Monopoly Revolution will be out in Fall, for $35. And don't worry—you'll still be able to find old-style boards, too.

either it catches or doesnt, not a big deal. they will make more than enough from it to justify it.
not like they are getting rid of the original anyway.
I think digital currency would be okay but the circular board looks crappy.
4cc misses being the big brother banker managing the cash flow.
I think making it circular takes away from the feeling of advancement you get when you turn the corners in the rectangular board. It simply isn't the same. Remember when one side of the rectangular board would get loaded with hotels and you'd dread that damn corner. I don't know, it doesn't look feasable to me. Don't get me started on the digital money. Don't they know that half the fun of Monopoly is handling the big wads of fake cash. Watching your bank swell while the others' dwindle.
Personally, I give it a huge ing FAIL.

Completely agree.
I have no problems with changing the fringe stuff, like money management and tokens, but the circular board just doesn't look aesthetically pleasing.
In all seriousness though....lame
They had to change it because kids couldn't find anyone to be "banker" because nobody could make change.
I like to play monopoly but sometimes the games just take too long and I get too bored. So if this new design will help it move along a bit faster, I'd definitely give it a try.

that sucks. Some need to realize that not every new change/innovation is a good one. Some things just need to stay the same, the usual.
