Frustrating to hear that 'Pop feels this team can compete with any other in the Weat' during the beggining of the telecast... I think by the end Hubbie was asking Pop what did he drink before he said that...

I blame pop for this loss.
How many shots did Pop miss? How many defensive buckets did Pop give up?

Ultimately it's the players on the floor, not Pop that is responsible for wins and losses.

LOL at driving Manu to the airport...he's been one of the few players on this team that has shown at least an intensity level that would help other players with less skills perform better if they ever played with the same passion.

Some of these players are just athlete loafers with nice contracts but little to no for ude to make things happen.

    That said...
It's also a responsibility to not mess up a rythym and/or insert a cog when things are working.

The same number that McDyess missed and gave up while DeJuan Blair and Matt Bonner were on the bench.

Spurs killed themselves by not hitting their wide open 3's. That was the difference.

    Thx Captain obvious...........

I'm glad somebody else gets it! Pop just needs to do a better job coaching and using his players. We have the personnel to be much better. I sometimes believe Pop "over thinks" everything.

RJ is being grossly misused. Have we even run an alley-oop play for the guy this year?

For a team whose offense takes entire quarters off, one would think Pop, a supposed HOF coach, could maybe find a play or two that could at least get RJ to the line. But I guess not.

RJ is silently screaming so loudly that every dunk he attempts is a reverse job ...just to remind Pop that he can jump out of the gym.

Honestly, in some games Bogans gets more shot attempts than RJ.

Pop is so set in his ways that it's really catching up on him this year. If I'm Peter Holt, I'm up his fanny right about now. Holt spent the money to bring in RJ, and Pop uses him like Bruce Bowen. That's just brilliant.

Great post. Everyone bad mouths RJ but he isn't Kobe or Lebron. He doesn't have the ball handling skills or the quickness to break people down off the dribble anytime he wants. He needs someone to get him the ball when he slashes to the basket. Three layups or dunks a game would change everyone's opinion about him.

Maybe Pop should try to bring him off the bench with Manu. Start Mason or Bonner in his place. The guy is not scared to elevate over people. He's not scared of contact. I just don't understand why they don't try to get him some easy buckets early.

"Defense doesn't take a day off"
    - Charles Barkley
You sure Charles said that? I am sure he didn't care for defense back in his day.

He certainly did not say "defense wins championships"

Hmm Ginobili and Parker, how long have you been a Spurs fan? Do you not see all the other things Ginobili contributes besides scoring?
Typical "fan" reaction...TRADE MANU AND PARKER!

He said it on TNT, and anybody that watched the Spurs when David Robinson was the focal point has seen enough of Barkley covering Robinson to know that Charles could play some ing D.

What the game were you watching? McDyess made several shots in the clutch including an And-1 to almost pull the game out at the end.

His defense was pretty good too, had a clean block off the backboard on someone driving to the basket. If he missed a few assignments I didn't notice.

The Trade Deadline will be intererting. Ill be happy to drive Ginobili, Jefferson, Parker, or any other Spur outside of Hill, Blair, Tim, into the airport.
I wouldn't mind too much if you are able to pick up LeBron, Chris Paul and Bosh on your way back. Otherwise,

I know I'm in the minority on this, but I think RJ is going to turn it on in the 2nd half of the season and playoffs. And I'm satisfied with his production so far and like slayermin said above, he could be doing more if Pop would draw up some plays for him.

I look at how Vince Carter is doing over in Orlando, he has blown donkey nuts. Carter is such a weeny when it comes to contact, he tries to avoid it entirely and ends up taking the most off the charts difficult shots (which 90% of the time miss) instead of getting the contact and foul.

RJ is at least physical when he takes his man off the dribble, and goes for the dunk many times in traffic, where Vince would veer away from defenders and try a difficult fadeaway.

Most of the time, he does not give a about defense though.

No, he makes jokes that he wasn't a good defender. Only people that didn't watch him play perpetuate that particular myth.

Wow, Antonio played a little bit in the 4th quarter. That's nice. And he had one block. You clearly didn't notice a lot.
