Is this a band, or a way to say "old rock"? If it is a jab at the age of most of the rock here, then there is a reason for that. The late 60's and the 70's are the peak of that genre. After that, you must look to electronica for any examples. I guess outside of proper electronica there are some examples. Radiohead tries to go there, but they don't quite do it.
My favourite album of all time, equal with DSoTM.
I disagree that it is "just so much better than the rest" thought - The Bends is in my top ten, just a stunning album from start to finish, and Hail to the Thief is pretty damned impressive.![]()
i've never heard it, but i've heard about it forever.
Kid A, In Rainbows, The Bends, HTTT are all great.
This one's good too:
When Sleep split up, Al & Chris put this project together, while Matt went off to form High on Fire.
i've heard about this one as well
i was trying to remember the significance of sleep and matt pike was it.
Yeah that is how I feel. Indie Rock is the closest thing to the psychedelia of that time period but not quite the same. The Moody Blues definitely bring out that relaxed and numbing feel that great psychedelic music has.
I guess I'll add some of my favorites.

I'm partial to Bananamour, but Joy of a Toy is great.
Love -- Forever Changes
Arthur Brown --The Crazy World of Arthur Brown
Funkadelic -- Maggot Brain
Quicksilver Messenger Service -- Happy Trails
13th Floor Elevators -- Easter Everywhere
Gong -- Angel's Egg
Genesis -- Foxtrot
Mothers of Invention -- Freak out!
Captain Beefheart -- Trout Mask Replica
Can, Amon Duul and Hawkwind belong in there somewhere.
Just got this one. Wild sound. I should check out more ambient sounds. Any other suggestions?
Not too into psychedelic music, but I used to smoke to Pink Floyd's album Animals all the time.
Robin Trower- "In City Dreams"
Animals is my favorite PF album (and therefore, my favorite psychedelic album ever) when it comes to "What do we put on while we smoke this gargantuan joint?"
