They don't win anything. They're simply fans by virtue of where they were born and raised, or in Lakavulva's case, which bandwagon they decided to hitch a ride on.

Don't get me wrong. There are tons of genuine Laker fans. Los Angeles is a big, popular city, and that's what happens when you are one of the winningest franchises in the league.

Some people blame Laker Fan for disappearing during the down times. Really, this holds true for most fans, and the Lakers have had less of those than most franchises. What is there to gloat about if your team is in the gutter? (Maybe people just notice more, because Laker Fan is boisterous, even moreso than Celtic Fan who can cling to more bling.)

That being said, I think the Lakers are the "easy" basketball team choice. People who don't follow basketball will name the Lakers as their favorite team because it's the first that comes to mind, or so they can rock a number 24 jersey. Girls will say they're Laker fans just because of their Kobe crush. Anybody who doesn't have a better pick will either go for the underdog, or they go for the Lakers.

The Lakers are like the Cowboys, the Yankees, and the Tiger Woods of Basketball. People follow them just because they don't have anyone better to follow. Take it from a lifelong Cowboys fan, that's no disrespect to you Laker fans who have paid your proverbial dues (and there are plenty). But every league has got the pretty boy team, and the Lakers are it for the NBA.

LA is a bandwagon city. Just cause there is always so much to do that isn't sport related. But once a team starts doing good(Raiders in the early 2000's, Cowboys recently), a majority of people will root for them. Then, once they are out, you'd never know they were fans of said team. It's weak, but happens. I've said it before, but the only teams who get unconditional support in this city are the Lakers and Dodgers.

Have to disagree. The Kings have die hard fans that have lived through decades of average or below average teams.

In my own words... I would sum up Laker fan as proud winners. Pretty much the opposite of the butthurt insecure fans like djohn2oo8 whose only real pleasure , since his team cannot produce, is to belittle the victors accomplishments and their fanbase.

I agree with this, but not all of the Lakers celeb fans are bandwagoners. I suspect some of them are actual hoops fans.
