i dont know... though i dont agree with it i also dont agree with punching a hole through a cows ear or any livestock either, let alone branding their ass too. seems a bit hypocritical if you ask me. it's only animal abuse if it's a domestic animal huh? in' dumb!
Mouse was having sheep's ears pierced, but only the pretty ones......
There is at least a purpose to tagging and branding livestock, though.
The better analogy here would be the practice of docking the ears and tails of certain dog breeds for purely aesthetic reasons.
That's a bit extreme. An earring I could see but an arrow? C'mon. I hate stupid trendy cats like that.
i see babies with pierced ears all the time in san antonio, how is piercing a pets ear cruelty but baby piercing isn't abuse

I've always wondered that too. All my friends had pierced ears when I was a kid but I wasn't allowed to have it done until I was 13 and paid for it myself. My kitty has yet to be pierced
