Every decade or so Nike really knocks it out of the park. This time is now. After years of waiting eagerly, I've finally found a successor to my treasured, but long defunct Air Burst Leathers... The Air Max 2009 Leather. I bought two pair. Three cheers for me.

The last really cool Nike shoe that wasn't a re-issue, the aforementioned burst:

Feel free to kiss the ground I walk on.

I don't understand how any guy can wear white shoes. Don't you guys ever do anything? I can't wear white shoes for two hours without them getting scuffed up.

Me either. That's why I bought two pairs.

The bursts I own, in the second pic I posted, are more or less uniformly gray, the soles are almost completely fallen off and the right one has a ripped seam in the toebox so that like three of my toes can stick out the front, be that my wont. And I've always regretted not having a second pair that I kept pristine.

With these, I'll wear one pair out, keep one for posterity.

Seriously 160 a pair. Only two types of people pay that much for shoes like that. Richers and ignorant bright eyed kiddies.

There is absolutely nothing about that shoe that would justify 160 bucks.

I'd have paid $500. Different people value different things. In fact, I barely glanced at the price tag. They cost what they cost. I'll enjoy them for years and that makes them well worth it IMO.

I mean really, I know people who routinely spend that much at the bar, over the course of one weekend. I know people who pay that much to fill up their cars with gas, twice. You could drop that much taking your family to see Avatar and dinner at Chilis.

It's all about context, literally years of enjoyment and satisfaction>>>>> anything fleeting that I could've dropped the money on instead.

$160 isn't that bad for shoes. Good dress shoes will cost atleast $200-300.

    Yep.

And if balli, or anyone, can ever drop $160 'without thinking about it', then i'm pretty sure that qualifies them as a richer.

I'm with you. I like shoes as gay as that sounds, not so much sneakers but dress shoes. I bought a pair of Ferragamo newlands this summer for $400 on sale this summer. It's all in what you like. I spend my extra money on clothes. I'm well aware of how gay that makes me look

Alright alright I'll allow it. I can understand enjoyment being enjoyment regardless of price.

I do understand that good dress shoes are pricey. Preference and taste aside my point was that in the grand scope of things like quality, materials and craftsmanship I don't find those shoes to be any higher quality than say ones priced in the 80-100 range. You're paying for name and the illusion of whats trendy vs. a higher price for say a higher quality or better build or some other significant benefit.

Hardly a richer, but the lack of a wife, kids or home ownership lets me live like a millionaire on a relatively paltry salary. If you must know.

And I think about it all the time. I generally don't waste cash on bull . Like Thunder said though, clothes are an area where it pays to invest.

...and don't get me wrong I'm all for paying a ton of money for the little things. I play with a 1,800 dollar pool cue and play with 1,000 dollar RC cars. I get it.

I take it all back. I'd be doing the same if I were single. God knows if I had no wife and kids I'd have fleet of vehicles.

there is a big difference between a $150 dress shoes, which is standard, and a $300-400 shoe. Just by looking at the leather you can tell a difference. Any most cheap dress shoes have rubber or synthetic soles.

I'm with you on sneakers. Most are all the same but slap Lebron or Jordan's name on it and the price doubles. But dress shoes you can tell a difference. A good pair of dress shoes should last you 10 years with normal usage and proper storage. Sneakers will last you a year if that

I just bought these last week. I haven't bought a pair of basketball shoes in years, but these were my prized possession when I was a kid. I used to clean them with a toothbush when I got home from school. So I had to buy them even though I'll never wear them. To me, these are the coolest sneakers ever.

Air Jordan Retro 6. I paid $150. I forget how much they were when they came out in 1991
