Amare's contract has a player option for 17.7M next year. Suns are worried he'll do the same thing to them that Boozer did to the Jazz and just play out his option.

Amare makes Cleveland WORSE defensively - his team defense might be worse than his man defense even. That's fine with me. He doesn't make CLE all that much better. The main reason why the Cavs beat LA two times this season was how Shaq, Big Z and Varajoke stiffled Pau and Drew defensively. Both of them completely own Amare. Amare can score his 24 if that means Pau/Bynum have 45.
I don't think this would make Cleveland that much better if it went down and they still aren't even a lock to come out of the East.
Well that only helps the Lakers even more. LA plays better when the media/fans doubt them (see: 2009 reg season) the Cavs play worse when everybody overrates them (since they seem to buy into the hype).
Now imagine when Cleveland doesn't win. Bron, Amare are gone for sure. Stuck with Richardson's K and no young talent whatsoever other than Boobie

Lakerfans ing about Amare not being a great defender is funny considering the lakers bigs are all average defenders at best. I refuse believe that Amare is such a piss poor defender that he can't became atleast an average defensive player in the Cavs system. This trade definitely is unfair but then again the Gasol trade was bs to it kind of levels that trade out if it goes through.
Amare is a horrible defender but that's in large part due to the team he's been on. With a motivated Shaq on defense + Cleveland's guards doing a better job keeping people out of the paint Amare won't be AS bad.
It's probably because he plays center a lot. He is a PF and needs a shotblocker similar to the needs Dirk has.
And like I said its not difficult to be an average defender in this league which I believe Amare can be in the cavs system.
Cleveland has the best defensive system in the NBA..while Stoudemire is a horrible defender, he does have the potential to be average, which is good enough..this Cavs team had Drew Gooden as a starter, one of the worst defenders of all-time, and they still finished 4th defensively and made the Finals..Hickson isn't even a noticeable defender..
