Gasol to the Lakers for peanuts
what is the deal?
Gasol to the Lakers for peanuts
The way the Boston - LA rematch manifested itself was a bit much. If it was a movie script it would have been rejected as too unrealistic.
No fouls call
Its impossible to fix the league. Such claims are ludicrous.
Watch the games and u can tell ...... The commissioner already siad he dosent want the spurs in a le game because ratings go down .... Facts are facts
A few other notable mentions, just in the past decade....
L.A. Vs Kings 2002 (this should explain itself)
Spurs vs L.A. 2004 (The .4 shot which at the time was deemed by NBA rule impossible but was still allowed, the rule was changed immediately in the new season)
Spurs Vs Dallas 2006 (Dirk was ushered to the line way to much for a jumpshooter)
Dallas Vs Heat 2006 (Wade was ushered to the line way to much for throwing his body into defenders and flopping)
Spurs vs Suns 2007 (The suspensions, while correct, should have been looked at in context, nothing happened but yet the Suns where severely punished (never say the Spurs dont get breaks from Stern))
Spurs vs L.A. 2008 (the non-call on Fisher, not that I think it would have mattered much, but still.)
STFU public option! what? were you just born ing yesterday or are you someone's troll. jesus christ stop with the "what's-going-on-guys?" threads already
jesus christ
I'm drunk![]()
Damn son, on a tuesday too![]()
It *is* Fat Tuesday.![]()
Anyone who has played or refereed in organized basketball games, even amateur games, knows this is pretty much impossible. Sure sometimes it feels like calls and breaks seem to go for a particular team but most of the time that feeling is biased because of the fan's preference. Have you ever heard a fan say the league is rigged when their team wins?
To answer the OP's question: There will always be more fans from losing teams than from the one team that just one the championship. A lot of losing fans can't accept the idea their teams were not the best.
The irony of it is it demeans whatever accomplishments the Spurs make because then these would be subject to the same su ionand doubts.
I'm not getting all these responses . . .
This was a question solely intended for LJ and Kori -- you might want to try the PM route there, fella.![]()
one reason the main reason!! stern is a money hungry you know what!! and will do anything to bring in cash at all costs!!! theres so many obvious moves its pathetic, they really dont hide it anymore, due to people like you who back them up, by laughing at people who question certain moves.
shifty youre wrong!! i feel bad for whoever goes against the lakers in the WCF not just our team!! i know when were playing right or not. people arent stupid!! if thousands of people are thinking the same thing you know what? there might actually be something behind it. To think that everything is what they say it is, is really sad it takes a true moron to believe that with all his heart
Spurs homers believe that we are ultimate champions because we draw zero ratings and still managed to
a) cripple the shaq-kobe dynasty
b) win champs in three separate nba eras
While we scoff at LA because stern loves their dominant ratings and
a) they had arguably the best player in nba history for their dynasty
b) they were beneficiaries of the most lopsided trade in this era of the nba one year after kobe refused to take a fourth quarter shot to self-eliminate his team from the playoffs
The PublicOption apparently fails on message boards, too . . .
RTB
because it is
Smart man.
With 8 of the last 11 Championships between them, Spur and Laker fans illegitimize their own championships crying about the fix.
all of a sudden when the integrity of the NBA is questioned, the Laker fan tries to side with the Spurs fan![]()
It's not fixed it's just swayed in a particular direction on a nightly basis, for instance the refs give some players the calls at the beginning of a game, then down the stretch they get nothing. It's a psychological game. It would be impossible to control what every player does each game, the refs can only control fouls. Most nights it seems the refs have already decided what the game plan is for this. I noticed it a lot with parker and duncan as he's gotten older. Some nights NBA basketball is a physical game and others you can't touch a guy. Anyone with a better theory?
ITs real simple. It is accepted that the NBA will give preferential treatment in terms of foul calls to 'star players.' Just by virtue of that, teams that have Wade or Bryant are getting preferential treatment.
To me its pretty stupid to accept the idea that the NBA calls games to help out star players but then using the same brain come to the conclusion that they would never do that when it comes to teams.
Quite frankly game 4 of the 2004 Lakers/TWolves series was all I needed to see to be convinced the league is fixed.
Sure if you want to think of it that way.
We'll just sit here and thank David Stern for "rigging" 4 Rings to the Spurs and 4 rings to the Lakers.
That doesn't make me feel any better, does it do it for you?
I like to think the Lakers won their 4 Championships fair and square. And I like to believe the Spurs won their 4 fair and square.
I can understand it if Mavfan and Sunfan coming up with these "rigged" theories though. But Lakerfan and Spurfan have had too much success believe in these BS "rigging" stories.
it is what it is. Stern and his predecessors want profitability, and the only non-profitable markets to win recently were SA and Detroit, and for SA it was only because TD
I think the history books should read that, in addition to MJ, the only player to break the trend of big market success in the NBA like NY/LA/BOS, was Duncan, and somehow, the Pistons organization
I have no problem with LA doing it's thing, as long as true greatness (TD) is recognized.
so carry on with your fixed NBA, but don't try to associate with the Spurs or Spurs fans. you are a fan of a whole different beast
The NBA is not fixed.
And I will associate myself with whomever I wish... Spurfan, Mavfan, Sunfan, Lakerfan, etc. It is up to them not to associate with me. Thankyou.
