If I ran the Spurs, contract negotiations with Tim would go like this:

Me: Tim, I want you to write a number down on this piece of paper. Make it a number that you are happy with. (pass piece of paper)

    Tim: (Scribble scribble)

Me: Thanks Tim. I'll make sure RC and Peter get this in a contract right now.
, i'd be down for that.

If Josh Howard doesn't figure in the Wizards' long-term plans and becomes available, would Duncan vouch for his fellow alum?

I don't know about Tim, but I'm a Wake Forest alum and I'm unbelievably disappointed in how Josh Howard turned out as a pro, both on and off the court. But mostly off, obviously.

As soon as he became a Maverick, the kid started acting like Mark Cuban, or worse. I don't get it. No idea where the at ude came from.

And speaking of Wake Forest basketball, if the Spurs could somehow get Al-Farouq Aminu, he would be amazing.

Duncan's game is low wear and tear compared to the other high flyers. He doesn't require a lot of physical or athletic play to be successful. This could allow him to play for several more years past what many expect (Jabbar or Parrish like). He will not, however, always be the main option down low. Just like David had to take a back seat for the good of the team so would Tim. Having said that, I don't think he feels a need to play in that status and will probably retire in 2-3 years.

So I guess that's a "no" then. Too bad, the kid has talent but his neurons are pronbably hard-wired by now.

One thing I'd like to see more of that he showed in the Denver game was an adjustment to his running hook in the lane, with either hand. He usually tries to swish it, and with his compromised lift, he misses short or long off the rim if he gets bumped, and he OFTEN gets bumped. On one attempt, he was going across the lane, using his right hand, and he tossed it off the square on the glass, and it went straight in. For someone who understands that the glass deadens his jumper, he almost never uses it while throwing a running hook, and it would increase his make %.

Banking a running hook from anywhere close to the front of the hoop whilst in the lane is much harder than hitting front rim and getting the the roll.

A - I'd love to play as long as I can. I want to be as effective on the court. I don't' want to be on the court just to be on the court. I'm a player. I'm a compe or. If I can do it the way I want to do it, yeah, I'll keep doing it."
Best news I have heard all year! If Timmy sticks around, he will always be effective and give us a a chance. We have a good young core in training and possibly Splitter on the horizon. Throw in the expiring RJ contract and even if it doesn't happen this year, the following years are looking brighter.
    Go Spurs!

I guess I wasn't clear on the shot I meant. It's when he wheels into the lane from either side, gets to the middle of the lane, and basically is shooting directly at the rim. In that case, it's directly 90 degrees off the glass, no angle involved. That shot is MUCH more forgiving if you go glass, since it deadens the shot. Even his little hook is so flat that if you hit front or back rim, it has a large chance of coming back out. Off the glass, hitting the rim is OK, since the momentum has been deadened.

Tim could get 20-10 most nights even at 37-38 IMO. I just don't predict a huge dropoff happening.

If Duncan was not suffering from chronic knee issues I would agree with this statement.

good call. but using glass on a running hook is a little more difficult than his stationary wing bank shot. might just be a question of taking a solid summer to perfect it.
Actually, it's the running bit that makes it a little more difficult. I was practicing banked stationary hooks in the lane last night, and the bank makes the shot a lot easier. But yeah, I'd still try to swish it on a running hook.

Exactly. It's not Tim's athleticism or will that might make him retire in a few years, it's his health.
