why would the rockets give up their best player for martin?
what do you rank that 7"6 piece of **** being one of the best centers of all time and your favorite centers of all time?![]()
why would the rockets give up their best player for martin?
Makes sense for the Rockets to flip Thomas for the NY deal.
Hill would of been behind Landry, Scola and Yao.
I know he hasn't been as good this season, and it's a down year. But he had a true shooting % at roughly 60 for the 4 years prior. He gets to the line a ton, and has been a 40% shooter from 3. He's also never going to draw the top defensive assignment, with Battier and Ariza, which hides his biggest weakness, and his contract isn't honerous(From memory, his extension was 55m/5 years). It could be that it's genuine regression, in which case the Rockets are paying for a good scorer who can't defend, which is horrible, or they traded for a great scorer who can fill a gap in the rotation.
(Though I'll admit, most of what I've seen of Martin this year is highlights)
is already a memory but it's still too early to give him an overall evaluation for his whole career at this point of time IMHO. at least we need to wait to check if his team will win a championship next season with their new acquisitions, because i believe a ring would add pretty much extra value to a player's career than what it's fundamentally worth.

Before T-Mac can find himself on a contender, he has to prove he can play --- and he probably won't have the chance.

No evidence Lakers would have interest, but Danny Ferry kept an eye on T-Mac this season. That said, unclear if either team would want him.

If T-Mac gets buy out with Kings, he privately hopes to sign with Lakers or Cavaliers for the playoffs, source close to him tells Y!

This blockbuster can still turn into a three-way deal with New York, but much work to be done before 3 p.m. EST deadline, sources say.

Jason. Kidd.
Now off.
this trade hurts but it helps.
K-mart has superstar potential and fits exactly in Adelmans offense
I have a feeling Morey has confidence that with this draft we can get a PF. We aren't in the playoff picture anyway.
I will miss Landry but we had to chose between him or Scola. Scolas overall game is better and he have to resign him this summer.
the trade is 50/50. No raping today.
old smack that never functions. Mavs didn't lose anything in that trade except a couple dip s and an overrated skinny whose team has only collected 4 wins so far this season. If belittling the Kidd trade can possibly soothe your discomforts, you are welcome to believe it a horrible trade as the recent one Rockets made.

Ugh. The Lakers could actually really use him. Start Brown at PG have Famar back him up, have TMac back up Kobe. Stick Fishers corpse on the bench.
You stupid s would have to be re ed to sign him in the first place...of course nothing surprises me with the city of LA.

Here's some new smack: you will die alone and unloved, nickel .
Anyway, why is picking up a 20 ppg 2 guard for the corpse of McGrady and Carl Landry a horrible trade? Nobody is claiming this puts the Rockets in the upper echelon of anything. It's a calculated risk worth doing. Like the Marion and Butler/Haywood trades. Anyway, carry on rooting for the 2006 champs!
So the Kings get a chip on shoulder McGrady and a top 5 4th qtr scoring leader in Landry to go along with rising star Evans. Morey has officially gone from hero to zero with this trade. What a trade!![]()
Landry was solid while he was here but I believe he's reached his ceiling already. The bad thing is for a PF he only averages around 5 rebs a game and we all saw how the double teaming affected him the past few weeks. No better time them now to trade him while his stock is high.
I agree
Yes Landry can't rebound for a PF; he has reached his ceiling and is playing out of his mind.
This trade is basically Kevin Martin + Sergio for Carl Landry
Very fair trade; besides Morey seems to be establishing a relationship with the Kings. This is good for the long run.
What the , Houston!?! I wouldn't trade Landry for Martin straight up, much less give away McGrady's expiring too. LMAO if Sacramento gets the deal done with the Knicks for Hill and the draft picks now.
I've given NO muthafukin props/credit to the re ed deal Donnie made a couple days ago. All your crippled arguments are based on the paradox that swapping Landry for Kevin "injury prone" Martin is an ascendant move or a lateral move at the very least, while in reality it's clearly a dubious move the Rockets hadn't made one alike since drafting a piece of tampon in 02.
If the Rockets are intending to tank the season and start immediate rebuilding, they shouldn't have acquired a contract like Kevin Martin's; on the other hand if the Rockets are still considering themselves as a contender in the western conference, they should have kept their best player of the season instead of trading him. It just makes ZERO sense neither way.
Good point! I hope you're right. I hate losing his athletism at the 4 spot though. We don't have much as it is.
Not really. I love Landry, and he is a great high energy guy, but I understand why we made this trade. As good as Landry is on offense he is below average on defense. I've watched every Rockets game for the past three seasons, and he gives back just as many points as he scores. He is either to short to stop anyone from scoring around the basket or out of position on defense. His rebounding is also below average. The reason why Scola is starting is because you can expect 15/10 from him just about every night. It's not like Landry is a spring chicken either seeing as Scola (at 30) is only 2 years older than he is.
With Martin and Armstrong coming in we gain a scorer, and a legit 7 foot shotblocker/rebounder to protect the basket. This trade also adds depth to our bench (Battier and Hayes take there rightful positions) which takes pressure off of Ariza, allowing him to move to his natural position at SF where he can be more effective (thank God). Martin can also create his own shot which is something this team desperately needed (we were asking way to much of just Aaron Brooks). Both of these players are younger than Landry as well. I will miss Carl, but from a team standpoint this makes us better. I was like WTF at first until I thought about what this team needs, and this trade actually helps us out in both areas, so I'm all for it.
Just when I was starting to think that Morey was a good GM.
Someone please ing shoot me.
WE TRADE AWAY OUR BEST PLAYER!??!?!?!
We still have the 7"6" piece of and we trade away my favorite player on the team?!??!
This can't be happening, Carl Landry was the world to me!![]()
Dude we just got Kevin Martin.
Do you know what the difference between him and Tmac is? NONE. We basically just threw landry away.
It's still a lateral move at worst but could turn out to be a lot better since Martin will play off Yao next season. Then if that doesn't work Yao's contract will expire and we can go in a different direction. Calm the down.
Have you seen K-Mart, he jacks up a crap load of stupid ass shots and is just As injury prone as tmac.
