If Ian is waived or dumped and the Spurs don't get a guy like Thomas, there's going to be a meltdown here
    True

Considering there was a breakdown after the Spurs let go of Pops Mensah-Bonsu, the Mahinmi meltdown should be entertaining. Especially considering the Spurs invested about five days on Pops and about five years on Mahinmi.

Like a meltdown wouldn't be justified?

    end of days scenario:
Mason traded for a protected 2nd rounder, Ian waived, TT traded to Houston for just Brian Cook. t-mac bought out and signs with the Lakers. RJ's number retired and hanging alongside 50.

I guess. Though personally I have long ago given up on the Mahinmi situation having a positive ending. At this point, a second round pick for him would be better than I expect. There might be a miracle (the Spurs are hiding him so they can re-sign him in the summer) but I highly doubt it.

In reality, Mahinmi was done as a Spur after they didn't pick up his option and didn't go with the "Let Mahinmi Start Ten Games" plan. By this point, I'm just ready to see what happens and get past that monumental waste of time and resources.

I don't think they'd dump Mason and cut Ian. That would mean they'd have to sign a player unless my math is wrong.

I don't disagree that his clock was a punched a long time ago, maybe longer than any realize.

Doesn't mean that criticism of how he was handled and/or given opportunities to succeed or fail wouldn't be completely justified. Even before he sank or swam with another team.

So a meltdown I think would be theraputic.

Now if Ian went on to do very well with another team late this year or next . . .

then there wouldn't be just a meltdown

it would be a thermonuclear pop-ageddon

And if it does turn out that Ian wasn't there at the game in advance of being traded/bought out etc . . .

    and McDonald didn't report it . . .

What a complete travesty that would be. Even more pathetic than usual from the Express News. If some layperson jackass like me could sniff it out and some dude there at the pressbox couldn't . . .

I just hope I'm wrong for McD's sake.

I would go back and check the tape but if you were looking for him all game, I'll go ahead and trust you. The only other possibility is Conseco Fieldhouse put the "behind the bench" seats off to the corner.

i already deleted it. I looked hard from around the 2nd half of the 3rd, all the fourth, the postgame walk into the tunnel, went back to the beginning, watched the pregame warmups, and through the first timeout, all specifically for Ian. After going through that, I didn't bother with the mid-first through early 3rd.

At one point during the last time out I thought I spotted someone behind the coaches bending down, but it ended up being just some trainer.

If he was sitting in the seats on the basket side, then he wasn't visible to the cameras.

If the alternative is Bonner and Bogans starting the rest of the season (which appears likely), I pray for a trade.

    Please make a trade

but I would welcome someone else checking the tape as well. Maybe if Ian can be found it will provide proof . . . that I need to finally go to sleep My eyes can't be trusted after so many waking hours

it'll be 6 AM here when the trade deadline comes.

hopefully ill wake up to many threads saying "spurs acquire...." "where does this trade put us?" "sequ: a trade happened and matt bonner is still gonna be our starting center."

Trade deadline is tomorrow and every spursfan in the world are expecting something to be done... I wish rc and pop would still push to improve the team this season even though the offseason was a failure...They still could make one final move to bring this team to contention in some ways and if that doesnt work, rebuilding should start sooner not later.

I still believe and you should...Its all or nothing guys

    GO SPURS GO!

Wow Kings trading for T-Mac came out of left field! This probably pushes the Knick to do that Thomas for Harrington deal.

Probably, but I was assuming D'Antoni would do it anyway just to block the Spurs.

The Memphis Grizzlies have about $3.2 million in cap room and are taking with several clubs seeking luxury tax relief. The main targets of the Grizzlies could be the Heat for Dorell Wright or the Jazz for Ronnie Brewer.

According to The Commercial-Appeal, "It is likely that the Grizzlies will pull off a trade at the 11th hour, according to sources with knowledge of the team's dealings. There is, however, confusion within the organization and an element of desperation coming from owner Michael Heisley. The Griz are seriously considering four or five scenarios, according to the sources."

As we noted yesterday, the Grizzlies have shown interest in Roger Mason.

Doing nothing is better than selling Mason for tax relief.

I guess I need to dig down and find some zen so I can do the same. At this point I'm hoping he's a foul/turnover machine that never cracks a rotation in the NBA. If he actually turns out to be Pops Mensah-Bonsu, then I can be less bitter that he's gone. You and I discussed bringing him up perhaps as early as his second year with the Spurs, so I know you were as optimistic as I was about the kid's development.

And last year's team could have used Mensah-Bonsu's enthusiasm and aggression. With Bonner starting as the post all-star bandaid, it's looking more and more like this year's team could too.
