Shannon Brown is better, amirite?
Since when does losing by one point qualify as being owned? Owned should be a word saved for bigger fails, such as the Blazers picking Oden.
LOL true, true. May not be Bowie over MJ part two ...but when it is all said and done ...
Only thing Oden will have over Durantula is the size of his "wang" LOL
Darko over Melo though may even be worse ...
That is why I dont get the prime Kobe vs. duncan arguments you aLWAYS go with the BEST player size be damned.
For eample no one beats up houston for taking hakeem over MJ, cuz Hakeem was a great player too BUT in the big picture you take MJ ...same way i would take Kobe over Duncan ...or Lebron over Dwight ...(though at first I agred with Phil Lebron has made that point moot)
I see where you're coming from, but to me you have to look at the pool of talent for the position. Good big men are hard to come by, especially consistent ones like Gasol and Duncan. To me that's why the Lakers are so good, because they have 1 great and 2 good big men. Most teams are happy with just one good big man. There seems to be a surplus of talent at guard in the NBA when you see players like JR Smith and Nate Robinson on the bench.
damn sons..learn to when to start LOL threads or it will lose its luster.
Yeah, but the best player is Duncan. Look at Kobe's output without a top-end NBA big (ie No Gasol, No Shaq). 2 First rounds exits and a missed playoff? Compare that to Duncan w/o top end backcourt players (2nd year TP, rookie Manu in 02/03) from 01/02 to 03/04 (by 04/05, TP and Manu were top end, I'll admit, although Gasol is probably more valuable than either of them...and Odom is not chopped liver, nor was Butler). 1 Ring, 1 Western Finals, 2 Western Semi's (and if the seeding had been different, likely would have been Western Finals). Lets not even get into regular season records.
The problem with your argument is that in terms of absolute value, a player with the same skills and athleticism who is 6'9" vs 6'4" is simply hugely more valuable. Size matters on a basketball court. You take the best player, yes, but the argument has to be made on output on the court, and at that point, size matters.
This thread is not about picking one player over another. This thread is about the laughably losing Lakers.
So you best beat Boston tonight then eh Trailblazer fan?
The Bulls also picked Carl Lewis in that draft. Carl Lewis?
