Back in the days, I had an Amiga

It was a multimedia beast (back then); sucked as a computer, but grat for gaming.

Some of my favorite games (I'll post others if I remember):

    - Silkworm: probavly one of the best shoot-them up in the history of the game: incredibly fast-paced, challenging, great music; great great game

    - Rick Dangerous: difficult, and funny

    - Kick off series: the original realistic soccer game; that's right; it was the 1st soccer game wehre the ball wouldn't be glued to the player's feet.

    - Great courts (or Pro Tennis Court): great looking tennis game, quite realistic

    - Tennis Cup: good

I still have a working (as far as I know) Amiga in my garage. I may have to dig it out and play some old school Bards Tale and .

    Some of my favorites.....

    Defender of the Crown
    A Bards Tale
    Altered Beast
    Eye of the Beholder

Just an FYI, there is a pretty good Amiga Emulator here: http://www.emulator-zone.com/doc.php/amiga/winuae.html

You have to download the Kickstart rom and the workbench to get it to work though, havnt found a site to get them for free yet.

If you have access to Demonoid, check out this link, Has EVERYTHING Amiga. The emulator, Kickstart, Workbench and probably EVERY game and application made for the Amiga. 28GB of Amiga software!!!

    Disc 1 http://www.demonoid.com/files/details/2032571/5760319/

    Disc 2 http://www.demonoid.com/files/details/2050005/28801595/

People that never played with an Amiga, its almost as legendary as the Commodore back in the day. It was basically a Nintendo on steroids, years before the Nintendo came out at that.

and yes, I have a Commodore that still works too (at least as far as I know, havnt fired it up in a while).

Nintendo? It was a Genesis on steroids.

Most gaming companies didn't how to use the Amiga to its full potential

Did you know that the 1st ever UEFA Champions League clips (visual/graphics) were produced with an Amiga?

You still have a Commodore ?

My cousin had one too - the C 64 - with the tapes and ; he had like 50 games per tape.
When I bought my Amiga, I told him: " I have Commodore too"; he was like: "cool"; then I said: " yeah except that it's 100000 times more powerful than yours"

Oh, and thanks for the links

I love me some Amiga, but no way it was on the Genisis level at the time. I wouldnt have any problem saying it falls between the Nintendo and Genisis, but no way it was at the Genisis level.

I'd say a compromise would be Amiga was between a nintendo and a Genisis.... except YEARS before either of those system came out.

I still cant comprehend how Amiga died as a PC maker.

From what I understand, the OS still lives on but its a s of what it could have been. Back in the day it was Windows 3.1 When DOS was still the new .

I'm putting the Amiga and the Genesis just based on the games that wee offered on both machines, as there was no difference (Shadow of the beast, R-Type)
Trust me, I had some awesome looking games on the Amiga

And there was no way they could have done the Champions League clip graphics and anim with a Nintendo

I had a 2600. Loved it to death. Only reason I stopped playing with it was because the powerpack and controllers died and I couldn't find replacements.

Former Atari 2600, Commodore 64 and Commodore Amiga user here...

Any scene guys here? I went through some groups (Razor 1911, Skid Row, Quartex and Fusion) back in the Amiga days...

I love retrogaming, especially arcades. I've been a MAME contributor for many years. Wrote the drivers for a lot of games, like Karate Champ, Super Punchout, Pole Position and a lot more that I can't remember right now.

Battle Squadron and Hybris (related), 2 of the finest Amiga games (IMHO), especially in 2 player mode

Man, thanks for bringing all of us such an amazing platform. Without MAME we'd be stuck with all the ugly neutered Nintendo remakes of all the really amazing stuff I remember playing at arcades as a kid.

I can't take credit for the platform, I just contributed my little grain there.
And believe me, it was just as rewarding for me writing that stuff as it is for everyone that got to enjoy it later on.

BTW, Karate Champ is still awesome.
