We used to throw a 2-3 man zone here and there with different degrees of success over the years...

I don't think we used it at all this season, have we?

We're playing a superior brand of D nowadays. This system involves Bogans shutting down all the opponent's perimeter options, with RJ or Mason or Fin being the centerpiece of an impenetrable interior defense.

And that's just the start. With the opponent reeling at one end of the floor, we land the knockout punch at the other end, keyed by RJ's explosive penetration, Bogans' dead-eye shooting, and the overall athletic ability of our team.

The strategy has a "shock-and-awe" element about it, which is expected to translate into huge leads in the 1st and 3rd quarters. So, when the 4th quarter comes along, we'll have a big enough cushion to let some of the less talented, less athletic bench warmers (Mahinmi, Hairston etc) get some token minutes.

Yes, they use a zone periodically. Watch for it after timeouts or stoppage of play.

zone defense doesn't work in 2k9 or 2k10. that's all i know. someone like deron williams will jack up triples the whole game, and usually make them.
