One night, yes. Not for a whole 7 game series. Mentally the guy is too far off the deep end to stay that focused.
We will agree to disagree. Only time will tell friend.

Kidd will guard Artest and Artest has not been able to exploit it from what I saw. Butler or Marion will start out on Artest. If the offense is being run by Artest, bad things usually happen for the lakers. Artest gets too close to the basket, Haywood will be there and he is good at avoiding fouls. The post is a hard place to play with a shotblocker out there.
I'm pretty sure Ron posted Kidd up 1 or 2 2nite did he not? I was back and forth between the game and making dinner and on the computer so I could be mistaken. I didn't settle in until 7 minutes left.

Didn't we hear all offseason how Ron was going to implode the team and be a huge distraction? He has been nothing but a solid teammate.

Your team has been far more vulnerable than they were at any point last season, and I think Artest has everything to do with that.
Have you cared to look at any other factors?

Namely...we are defending champs. A let-down was inevitable. Needs time to gel and figure out the offense...even though we barely run the damn tri anymore.

Artest has NOT been the problem for the Lakers this year.

That has been the backcourt...namely Fisher.

The problem for the Mavs and any team v the Lakers over a 7 game series is the points in paint battle. Lakers generate more interior baskets than any team in the league.

Mavs were +9 from the arc, +8 in fast break points.

Still, ING PROUD at the grit... I had that nervous feeling throughout the 4th quarter that the Mavs would yet again fold to the Lakers under pressure... but our boys... our beautiful boys showed some grit and wherewithal... this team is very different MENTALLY than previous editions... whether its enough come playoffs probably not but alas...

And I do wish you were coach of the Mavs or any of the contenders lol so you would then try to isolate Artest and attack his weaknesses as opposed to Fisher since Artest has made us "vulnerable"

Mavs were agressive and played without fear. I'm pleasantly surprised they won with Dampier and Butler out. We got away with Najera guarding Gasol and Kidd guarding Artest for long stretches. When Damp comes back, we'll be able to field a center for 48 minutes instead of just 30. Haywood is a smart player, he's not aggressive as he could be bc he has to stay out of foul trouble.

Exactly with Dampier comming back you have two legit interior 7 foot defender in which Gasol can not post up and is forced to be a jump shooter which is huge. Gasol,Odom both are great at abusing undersized players but the Mavs now have the luxury of not having to worry about having those type of mismatches.

Mavericks had the perfect gameplan for Kobe.

Let him shoot jumpers, dont let him drive. If he gets picks, double team him and force the ball out of his hands. But whatever you do, don't let him drive. Force him to have to get 30-40 points on jumpshots and fadeaways (lower percentage shots).

Haywood was playing soft early to stay out of foul trouble, but in the second half, he pretty much shut Bynum down. When Damp gets back, things will change a LOT.

Mavericks can most definitely compete with the Lakers.

Bynum had his way with Haywood pretty much every possession 1 on 1. He was scoring on him at will. Mavs were forced to double/triple him in the 2nd half. It was nothing Haywood did to stop him.

Damn and they still lost. How can they compete if bynum is scoring at will and they still get beat. Oh woe is me.

I knew it was pretty much a done deal when the Lakers opened the 4th with like 4 turnovers in a row.

    Congrats on the win!

Mav's played great. But saying they kept Kobe from driving is a stretch. You are not going to see Kobe drive a lot into traffic anytime soon nursing the ankle and finger. I think you will see him turn it up a huge notch down the stretch.
