My experience too. I just got home, opened up firefox- The first two stories at the top of my igoogle page were about Obama kicking ass and/or Republicans getting pwnt.

You're obviously open to the opinions of complete strangers so allow me: the President was desperately trying to command the room and the direction of this bill; talking over others and dare I say down to them. He talked alot, and didn't say very much.

Meh, more RECENT polls show that people are about evenly split.

I've seen polls where people are split vs. the current non-PO health bill, NOT split on the PO option.
Magic Negro ran on doing a public option, it polled very popularly in the 2008 campaign (and probably won him quite a few votes), people still want a public option. They don't even know any PO details, but like people voted against the Repugs in 2006 and 2008, they probably prefer a public option as voting against the profiteering health insurers.
Magic Negro is taking a real risk electorally by not including a public option. It's one of my huge disappointments with the guy (as is cutting a deal with BigPharma rather than using them as the whipping boy to bend down the (drug) cost curve (to where US drug costs are the same as non-US drug costs).
When MSNBC's two hour special on the Obama Summit starts off with thier peeps saying repugs came more prepared then the dems that is them saying "dems got owned" Out of the 6-7 hours, the repugs only talked for 2 of them. Imagine if Obama was bipartisan curious what they would have said.
Obama was called out after the first 90 minutes becuase the dems had 50 something minutes so far and repugs 24-25 minutes up to that point, Obama talked down to him reminding him who the president was and that time difference, to that point was only because he opened the talks. But nothing changed.

The American people voted him in and voted in a majority of his party to the Congress. They have the right to pass their legislation through. I did not agree with some of what Bush did but he won and that is what you get to do-- pass your legislation.
I thought health care reform was a necessity almost 20 years ago when Clinton tried to do something about it, and I will have more respect for Obama doing something about it even if it supposedly might harm his re-election bid.
