Agreed.
This would be an excellent stat to have. Dribble per 36 minutes and the amount of time each player has the ball in his hand per each 24 seconds of offensive possession of his team.OKLAHOMA CITY—Thunder guard Kevin Durant dribbled the ball 73 times in the fourth quarter, leading all dribblers with 186 bounces in Oklahoma City's win against the New York Knicks Saturday. "At first I was trying to just be patient and dribble only when I had to, like to avoid traveling and to run the offense," said Durant, who is third in the league with 147.6 dpg and a 99.8 dribble percentage. "I know we're not supposed to admit it, but yeah, by the end I was counting. 182, 183, 184, 185, 186 bounces. It felt good. Honestly, I was in such a zone that it felt like I was dribbling on a court twice as big." Durant also led both teams with 43 jumps and 1,227 steps taken
I suspect Chris Paul would lead this stat easily.
Chris Paul would own this stat, no other player in the league dominates the ball as much as him, not even Kobe. .
I think Darren Collison could probably top Kobe. More candidates... Kobe sure; Monta Ellis if the stat was pace-adjusted would easily be a contender; Carlos Arroyo would do very well I think; ditto for TJ Ford.
Little Barea is another good name.
Nash would give CP3 a run for his money.

Haha did you guys really believe Durant counted his dribbles during the game? lol
If you played on that scrub ass team you'd dominate the ball too.
LeCrab would lead this stat easily if he ever felt like dribbling or actually had to dribble the ball.
Ehmm... no.
Stevie Francis would be the freaking Oscar Robertson/Wilt Chamberlain of this stat.
and then you could have PDR and ADR. point to dribble ratio and assist to dribble ratio
gotta love The Onion.
No? Nothing? Not even a ter? Tough Sub.
I doubt it.
Sure we did.
Ah, yeah, excellent call. Franchise loved to bounce the ball.
lol, obviously not you... you posted the article!
Since there was no source, I was reading it like it was serious until I got to that part. They're coming up with stats for everything these days, so you never know.
The link to the Onion article is in the OP, just click in OKLAHOMA CITY.
Is there a stat for ankle breaking dribbles per second?
There has to be, considering what Collison did to Barrea las night

funny how the hornets' announcers praise our defense but at the same time claiming that we won't be able to win a championship with this team
