Basically it's the only way this team can ever be a contender again. Too many bad contracts for him to win here. Need to build around Collison/Thornton. Only way to unload Okafor and others is to trade CP3.

Why do Hornetfans want to get rid of Okafor? Wasnt he supposed to be better than CHander? Atleast he's healthy...
Hornets are a better team without Chris Paul anyway.

He's serviceable. I'd get rid of most other players on the team before Okafor.
I know. Obviously we're a much better team with CP3, but in the long run this team won't be able to add talent with bad contracts like Posey, Okafor, etc. Trading Collison won't get us much either. Collison isn't anywhere near CP3, but he's good enough to start on a contender with the right talent around him.
Prove it. Numbers prove you wrong. 18-10 with CP3 since Scott was fired. Below .500 team with Collison starting.

I agree, if you guys are doing well without CP3 why not trade him for some valuable assets and improve the team even more?

You could get a lot of young talent and/or draft picks back for Paul. Then trade West for whatever you can get back for that pussy (not much) and start rebuilding. Could be a great team if the Hornets draft right (which they seem to be good at)
He's serviceable but his contract is terrible. Plus, our team defense has worsened this season and alot of it is because he doesn't have the length of Chandler. He's not worth his salary. He's mediocre most nights and rarely has an impact on this team.
The Hornets aren't doing well without Chris Paul. They could have been at least eight or so games above .500 if Paul didn't go down.

No. The Hornets should rebuild around Paul. Try to trade West for some talent (young player, pick) while his reputation trumps his current ability; try to find a way to dump Posey and Okafor for contracts one year shorter even if it means taking in guys like Troy Murphy or Dunleavy; stop signing those crazy midlevel contracts.
I don't know if my fellow fans have my back on this, but I'll give ya TP for CP3...
The big problem was not being able to trade Chandler last season for expiring contracts. Okafor isn't a true center. He can't defend guys like Howard or Shaq. It was sad how Aaron Gray did a much better job against Howard than Okafor. Okafor's mentally soft as well. Doesn't play with alot of anger.
The problem is West wouldn't bring back players to replace his scoring. We can easily start Collison at CP3's position, and acquire enough players to start around West, Thornton, and Collison.
Both Peja and Mo Pete's contracts are expiring next season, so the Hornets could try to dump them.
Glad that another sees the future for this team.
D.Collison and Thornton are part of that future... all the others are a waste of money.
Get good parts for CP3 after this season is over
Plus West has a decent contract. Trading CP3 would allow us to dump Okafor's bad contract and acquire good talent and high picks.
