is there any smiling Hairston pic in the internet?

Hornets have beaten Orlando, Celtics and Rockets recently and played the Cavs and Mavs fairly well, so while a Spurs win is expected, all things considered (b2b + an opponent playing over its head) it was a quality win.
Is this our first B2B win?
It was a good W, the Spurs controlled the game for most of the time..
It's nice to see the main guys playing at a high level right now, hopefully they can sustain it..
Now just give Bogans' minutes away and the roster will be set..
on ST there's never a good win by this team![]()

So good to see Blair can hold his own against guys like West...
He needs to learn to avoid those stupid fouls on offense, but man, what a special kid...

Hill scores 23, lifts Spurs over Hornets 106-92
By Brett Martel
George Hill scored 23 points and the San Antonio Spurs won their second consecutive game, 106-92 over the New Orleans Hornets on Monday night.
Tim Duncan added 22 points and nine rebounds and Tony Parker had 18 points for the Spurs, who shot 51 percent and led by 20 in the third quarter before holding on without much drama.
Rookie guard Marcus Thornton was 6 of 7 from 3-point range, setting a career high for 3s in a game, and scored 30 points for New Orleans, which has dropped two straight and four of five. Emeka Okafor scored 18 points and David West added 13 for the Hornets, who never led in the final three quarters.
Hill was 9 of 13 shooting, including 3 of 4 from 3-point range.
Darren Collison had 10 points and 15 assists for New Orleans. Thornton was 12 of 19 and scored 20 of the Hornets’ last 29 points, but didn’t have the help that Hill got from the Spurs.
Manu Ginobili had 13 points and eight assists for San Antonio, while Richard Jefferson and Matt Bonner each scored 10.
Parker tormented New Orleans early in the second half, hitting a 20-foot jumper and three driving layups during 12-1 run, which Duncan capped with a jumper that put San Antonio up 70-50 with 7:40 left in the third quarter.
New Orleans kept it interesting a little longer, though, responding with a 13-0 run during the next 4:30. West’s driving layup as he was fouled got it as close as 78-73 in the final minute of the third quarter, but Bonner hit a jumper as time expired in the period, then Ginobili opened the fourth quarter with a 3 and Jefferson followed with a jumper, quickly stretching the Spurs’ lead back to 85-73.
Each time the Hornets put a couple of baskets together after that, the Spurs had an answer. When Thornton’s reverse layup enlivened the crowd and pulled the Hornets to 93-83 with a little more than 6 minutes to go, Parker came right back with a driving scoop and Hill added a 3 to make it a 15-point game with 5:42 left.
When the Hornets got as close as 11 with more than 3 minutes left, Duncan made a free throw and Hill added another 3.
Hill scored 13 in the first quarter, mostly by sneaking behind the Hornets’ defense and getting the ball inside for easy layups. He added a 3 during a 7-0 Spurs run to close the first quarter, which put San Antonio up 31-24.
DeJuan Blair scored four points during a 6-0 run early in the second quarter that put the Spurs up 37-26.
Thornton’s 3 snapped the run and began a 13-2 spurt by New Orleans, highlighted by Thornton’s double-pump layup on a hard cut through the lane to tie it at 39.
No sooner had New Orleans tied it than were the Spurs pulling away again. Parker hit a runner in the lane and Ginobili sank consecutive 3s, igniting a 12-0 run capped by Duncan’s dunk. A few minutes later, Bonner’s jumper as time ran out gave the Spurs a 58-47 halftime lead.
NOTES: The Spurs were playing their first game since granting reserve swingman Michael Finley’s request to be waived so he could try to find a more prominent role on another team. Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said he was surprised Finley asked to leave. … San Antonio has won all three meetings between these teams this season. They play once more Friday night in San Antonio. … Earlier in the day, Collison became the first Hornets player since Chris Paul during the 2005-06 season to be named Western Conference rookie of the month. … Rickey Jackson, who last month became the first New Orleans Saints player elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, sat courtside near the Hornets’ bench. The former linebacker wore a black Hall of Fame baseball-style cap.
Missed the game tonight but I was following the score and it seems like we played pretty well throughout. Two great wins back to back... let's hope the SPAM is warming up!
Damn. That is good recap. Who is this writer?
Yeah, good recap. Very thorough and informative.
Some post game quotes.
“George has been great all year long. He’s a big part of what we do and he’s just finding his rhythm,” said Spurs center Tim Duncan, who added 22 points and nine rebounds. “He knows where he’s supposed to be. We ask him to go out there and guard their best player, their most active player and he does that on nightly basis. He’s a big part of what we do and when he plays well like that, we play well.”“Every game means something right now,” Hill said. “I’m just trying to give all I can to help my team try to win. … That’s my job, just to give them everything on both ends of the floor.”“Obviously the Spurs play very efficient basketball and they’re not going to beat themselves,” Hornets coach Jeff Bower said. “In the fourth (quarter), they had answers to keep the game under control.”
Time for some SPIM this year.
I thought they said "Maybe the rookies can pull another victory out of their hats." At least that's what it sounded like to me.
Seems like Tim understands that Bogans is not equipped to do this. Bruce could score points in a flurry but we never relied on him to be the 20 ppg scorer George is becoming. This team needs Hill's scoring but at this point it is impossible to realistically expect him to guard Carmelo or Kobe all night and keep pouring it on offensively.
23 year old Malik may not be the savior but 30 year old Bogans is one of the worst rotation players in the league. Does it hurt to give Hairston a shot? He has exceeded Bogans in every important category in the limited time he has played: superior length, enormous vertical, nose for the ball, shot blocks, contests, frustrating an elite scorer, rebounding (i do not see bogans rebound or frustrate scorers at all.) I won't mention the potential offensive advantages.
Fact is if Malik works out he could take some valuable pressure off george. If he isn't cutting it, you can just put Bogans back in. Will he get the chance before an elimination game?
ps: thanks to spursfanfromafar for the Hollinger link![]()
whoa whoa whoa . . . Hill's been guarding the other team's best player?
But Bogans is our bulldog and was declared by Pop to be our defensive stopper in the Bruce Bowen mold!
should we just reuse this game blog? save the environment and all that?
I think we should reuse the same gameblogs until the Spurs lose![]()
