Spurs' plane grounded
By Jeff McDonald on Mar 6, 10 11:19 AM
It is just past 11 central time, and your intrepid beat writer is sitting in a hotel room in Memphis, watching West Virginia play Villanova on TV and awaiting the start of tonight's game between the Spurs and Grizzlies.
The team I cover, meanwhile, is sitting on a runway at San Antonio International Airport, still trying to get here.
Due to mechanical troubles, the Spurs' NBA-approved charter plane could not leave San Antonio after last night's victory over New Orleans. The Spurs spent the night in their own beds (and not the tarmac, thank goodness), and will fly to Memphis this afternoon.
Talk about a quick turnaround. The Spurs are scheduled to land here at 12:45 p.m. Tipoff is at 7.
The Spurs aren't strangers to airplane malfunctions.
Two years ago, they experienced similar troubles after winning Game 7 of the Western Conference semifinals in New Orleans, and had to spend a night in the plane on the tarmac before leaving for Los Angeles.

something about all the hotels being booked, if i recall correctly.
Plane troubles bring bad memories.
'08 New Orleans. The tarmac. The Waterloo/El Alamein, and Stalingrad, all combined, of the Spurs dynasty.
NBA ordered or ordained?
Aw, , who'm I kidding. We could show up during the anthem and kick those damn Grizzlies. . .![]()
What is it with that freakin' airport?
Same opponent.
Different airport.
Different charter company.
actually this is in SA. Not New Orleans...
So totally different airport.
Oh yeah. Home game.![]()
Thanks.
uhh i guessThe Spurs aren't strangers to airplane malfunctions.
as much flying as they do they should thank jah if those are the worst two problems
because they are broke
boy you are stupid
weird how it happens again after a win against NOH.
Today's athletes are really pampered.. just imagine if they had to travel the way teams did in the early days.
It's the Hornets.
Broke no, reputation for being cheap yes.
No vacancy.
Yeah, there was something going on in N.O. that week or weekend. EVERY hotel room in town was booked.
