I won't comment on Bogans.
Estimated wins is a bogus stat. They tell you that Jason Kidd is responsible for twice as many wins as Dirk Nowitzki.

It'd be nice if the Spurs would have kept Bruce as an asst coach. The way Chip is a shooting guru, Bruce could help Bogans and Hill on things like ball denial, feet sliding, and karate chops.
One thing that is glaring is that we don't have anyone to take charges/offensive fouls. Looking back, how important were Bruce and Horry (even Fab). It is an art and we have no defensive artists.

If anyone saw how Orlando's Matt Barnes manned up and played Kobe, in their nationally televised game on Sunday, it shouldn't be understated that Barnes put forth the type of effort, at ude and moxie that a Bowen clone should bring. As we know, no one can or will ever stop Bryant. All you can do is try to force him into difficult shots, make him work on the defensive end, and don't get punked. Barnes excelled in every category with his work on Bryant. I'll take that any day.
I've bagged so much on Finley in his years here, that I'm going to give Bogans a pass - for now. I'll just say that I wish the Spurs had a player of Barnes' ilk at the SF spot. If they did, it would negate some of Bogans' suckiness.
I don't understand the hate for Bogans. Who else could possibly attempt to guard Lebron? Manu, RJ, Hill ? Bogans is better defensively.
That's true. I cannot fault his effort or his desire. After watching Finley suck-ass on the defensive end for years and watching how Mason and RJ still suck, I'm going to go easy on Bogans, for now.
It's not Bogans fault he's been placed in a position he's not qualified to succeed with.

Pop gets the blame here for somehow thinking Bogans can fill this role at a champions level.
The lack of the "Bowen heir apparent" is something I've been hounding, ad nauseum, for about 4 years now. With Bowen now gone, the Spurs are now victims of their failed transition plan.
And no team that puts out four and five guard lineups in situations where they need a stop can speak to the media seriously about having any sort of defensive mentality.
Pop has been searching for a Bowen for years. Don't forget Ime Udoka was brought in to fill that role. Then Bogans and Jefferson.
Apparently Bowens don't grow on trees within Pop's reach.
Apparently Pop just doesn't care anymore and thinks Spurs fans are too stupid to tell the difference between Bowen and Bogans. The sad part is how right he is.
You know, I was ready to give Barnes credit for playing a tough aggressive game. But then his true colors came out when he faked throwing the ball at Kobe's face. Kobe didn't event flinch. That basically removed all doubt as to whether what Barnes was doing was bothering Kobe.
Bush league move by Barnes. Kobe made him look like a chump.

Kobe going 12 for 30 from the field and not playing D on Barnes while he made a clutch 3 begs to differ with your "looking like a chump" comment..not surprising to see Mavs fans disliking Barnes though..

Yeah I don't know why people keep suggesting that Barnes was aiming at Kobe's face, because he'd have gotten thrown out for it.
Besides, everybody knows Kobe's the one who likes to aim for the face.
He didn't. The camera angle made it look that way, but Kobe was a foot or more to the left. The ball would have gone over Kobe's shoulder.
