I don't wanna get all Hollinger with the point differential BS, but is it too much to ask that you don't let one of the worst teams in basketball history get an 18 point lead and take you down to the wire at home?

I love the Mavs winning, I don't love that they STILL have this inability to step on the throat of their opponent, especially when that opponent is far weaker. The lack of killer instinct is a huge concern imo.

idk why caron, haywood, and damp were not on the floor that much...

haywood/damp i understand cuz of their injuries but why caron only 30 min? rick probably doesn't trust Roddy at the pg so he has to play him with kidd causing kidd to play 44 min against the nets LOL

I seriously don't think we're giving a 100% effort, kind of like what the spurs used to do towards the end of the regular season. I think we're just giving a solid 3/4 effort and coasting a bit while the guys still get used to eachother.

    o injuries

    o schedule since ASG

    o no center

    o no rebounding

I dont get it, our streak "sucks" because we dont blow out crappy teams? Why isnt our streak awesome because we still win on a heavy schedule with no center, thin bench, injuries etc?

    Suck it Hollinger

Today Dirk was flat, the centers back from injury. Let them have now 3 games in 11 days and then the Mavs should be better..

just motivation and laziness in games like these. especially since dallas has already won like what 12 in a row?

we see this all the time in sports. a good team will play down to the ty teams level. until it gets close to the end then they pull away.

Its the schedule and injuries IMO. Also tonight just happened to be Dirk's worst game of the year.

We essentially blew out the Twolves on Monday, and blew out the Pacers earlier in this streak.

Mavs have only had one game with their full compliment of players since the trade... although it was their only loss.

It is someone annoying though that multiple games since the trade have looked on the verge of being a blowout and the opposition makes a bizarre late game run.

I would like to see some more complete basketball from the Mavs though.

Dirk sucked for sure. Luckily he's got a lot of help. Beaubois with a good game imo. Not great but enough to get us past the Nets.

Who cares, they took the Nets extremely lightly and got an 18-point first-half deficit for their trouble. They showed plenty of killer instinct in those wins over the Lakers, Magic and Hawks.

With experience/lore gained from the previous miserable failures, the Mavs now are able to exploit it when the opposing chokes which can be regarded as a brightening indicator IMHO.

Also, these teams come into a packed house at the AAC playing a good team and they have a little pep in their step. And you know Harris has this game circle and wants to stick it to Dallas.

Take the recent games against Minnesota - barely put them away at home in front of a big crowd, then spanked that Puppy ass in front of an empty building at the Target Center.

Holy Dirk was awful tonight - 3-16 shooting and 5 turnovers. I remember watching it and seeing him miss a bunch of shots and let Harris pick his pockets for a breakaway layup but I didn't realize it was that bad.

If they have a couple more poor performances against ty teams, then you should get concerned. Right now, chalk tonight up to what other people have already said and that is getting complacent with winning 12 in a row so they're all fat and happy, playing one of the tiest teams in the history of the NBA causing them to be lazy and unmotivated, Dirk's worst scoring performance since Hasselhoff was on Baywatch, and a whole bunch of injuries limiting the team.

Now they play like that again against the Knicks and the Bulls, win or lose, then your concern and even ing would be more than justified.

I don't think Ricky C had but a couple blowout victories in his entire time in Detroit. Talent? Maybe, but his 'call a time out now, ask questions later' approach does give the opponent just as much time to 'reset' as his own team, and therefore may not be conducive to blowout victories.

wrong. The Mavs only obtained their 13rd straight win because their opponents tonight choked even worse than their own in 06 finals and 07 1st round. Although it isn't too bad an idea to take games against scrubs as respites, the Nets shouldn't be the team they could afford to rest against anyway unlike queens, clippers etc. The nets were also on quite a memorable streak before the game with Mavs and both streaks were expected to get one-game extensions respectively as the game finished tonight. Definitely it's not a game the Mavs should risk losing IMHO.

Compared to losing to a team which is piss poor, the bigger embarrassment would be getting etched into history as the period to the Net's historical losing streak.

I've been noticing this as well. I'd be curious to see the Mavs point differential post trade deadline.

I'm sure they're getting complacent and Dirk won't shoot that poorly again. I mean, at the end of the day, how much can you really complain when you win 13 in a row?
