GTA IV was the easiest of all the GTA's ever made.
I was sitting around looking for something to mess with when I remembered that I hadn't beat GTA IV (even though I bought it on release). And with the new content available, I though I might try it again.
The combat is clunky as . I played the previous GTA games on PC, so using a mouse masked some of that. I usually don't have a problem with shooters on consoles, but this is just ridiculously hard. And what's worse... if you fail a mission, you have to start from the beginning again. I have to make the long as drive back to the same location and fight for 10-20 minutes only to die again. So ing aggravating. At least have checkpoints during longer missions or something. I just attempted the bank heist mission, which made me fight on foot along the street and in the subway before I finally got a car. I drove through countless police blockades to get across town to drop off my companions only to have the car explode right outside their house. I'd probably attempt to go to a paint shop if I got that far again, but I just don't think I want to go through all that again.
I really want to beat this game, I just can't deal with the frustration. Here's hoping Red Dead Redemption takes a different approach to the way you do missions and save the game. And hopefully the combat is better.
GTA IV was the easiest of all the GTA's ever made.
I cruised through the others. But like I said, I played them on PC.
i passed it twice. no incentive to play it again. i dont like to replay it from the start cause its a slow start once you have passed it
GTA 4 is crap. SA, VC, and GTA3 still worked very well with a controller, but 4 was a disappointment in every phase:
- graphics were boring and looked just like Saints' Row
- Niko is a giant crying vagina; I can live without the stupid-ass preaching when I'm playing GTA
- the driving is boring, and yeah, takes too long between missions
- none of the missions were interesting at all; it felt like the same mission over and over
- no hot coffee for the dates
The only good thing in the game is going to the comedy club to hear Ricky Gervais.
Everything in GTA IV is just slow and sluggish. That game gives me the same feeling as trying to run underwater.
And in addition to Niko being a giant crying vag, all the NPC's sucked ass too. I didn't care about anyone or anything that I was supposed to.
Glad I'm not the only one that feels that way. It's such a struggle to even walk down the street in this game.
I gotta admit, pussy ass Niko falling in love with the cop was pretty hilarious. The way he constantly ragged on Roman was some though.
I beat the game once and never touched it again. I've never been so disappointed in a game in my life. I went to midnight release. My first and only time, and probably last. The controls felt bad, the car driving was impossible. Every mission was as follows: Drive to location, chase down person. And even though you have put enough bullets into this guy to kill him, it's not over yet. You have to get to the area they want you to kill him at. It was the biggest waste ever. I sold it a couple months later for MGS4.
This.
Plus the cops are like super soldiers on steroids
You would open someone else's car with nobody around and they would show up; WTF, how are they so aware?
The time between missions is not bad at all if you use a taxi.
You can bang hookers and dates and get lap dances...not sure the use in doing that, but it's there.
The Katt Williams comedy bit is awesome, Gervais puts me to sleep.
GTA 4 was good, but felt like a tighter and better version of GTA 3 instead of an expansion upon the awesomeness of GTA: San Andreas. I beat it twice and still occasionally load up missions like the HEAT inspired one or the ones where Roman gets kidnapped. It's fun.
Is there any reason whatsoever to waste time taking friends/dates out? On San Andreas you get special abilities and stuff for winning over some chicks. Anything like that here?
dwayne gets you backup on request
packie gets you a carbomb
steroids guy gets you access to a chopper
that's just what i remember.
san andreas was so much better though
Honestly I liked it a lot.
Really? What was better about it? I liked it much more when it was cartoony and gangster, not trying to be realistic and preachy. Someone needs to make a mod where you can have Tommy Vercetti come and cut Niko's head off with a chainsaw or something. I can live with the bad control, the lame city, the slow feel, but putting that pansy ass as the lead character was the last straw. Even Fido was better.
it went too real and that was its failure.
Claude>cj>tommy>any character from "city stories"> asian guy from chinatown wars that i never played> niko "rat face" belic
Another one and done game. And LOL at the multiplayer. That was NOT entertaining.
I haven't played the game much because of MW2. I bought Halo 3, Assassins Creed 1 and GTA 4 at Best Buy when they did the buy 2 platinum releases get 1 free and haven't even touched AS 1 because of MW2. It did take me a little while to get use to the controls on GTA 4, but just haven't picked it up again.
Graphics, music, targeting system, the city...I'm not saying GTA 4 is the best of the series, but I have no idea how anyone can say it's not better realized than anything in GTA 3. Well, except for Claude. He's the .
I haven't played the DLC episodes, but I heard that you see Niko's actions as being a homicidal maniac which sounds cool.
Okay, I thought stringer was arguing better than GTA VC and SA. It's about on par with GTA3.
i put tommy ahead of cj just for his "you took 10 years from my life sonny" line
GTA 3 >>>>>>>> GTA IV
The only things GTA IV has that are superior to GTA 3 are things that come naturally with a newer game on a newer console. Graphics, physics engine, etc. Duh. Those things don't count when comparing GAMEPLAY and FUN FACTOR because it's not fair to GTA 3.
GTA 3 was much more fun and a of a lot more memorable than GTA IV will ever be.
Tommy s on all characters. He let Claude have his sloppy seconds.
