rj had a pretty good game tonight against the timberwolves.....now only if he could play like that all the time...
He should be called out more often, he did good tonight.

I don't get why people think RJ will play out his contract next year. The FO can look to convert that contract into assets next year without a doubt. Draft picks and multi year players (hopefully younger ones) could be had if the Spurs want to start truly going young. Other NBA teams are cash strapped and may want to get out of longer contracts. Dallas (I hate to say) was able to get better in this way with Howard this year. Their core players are a bit older than the Spurs now strangely enough.
If the FO wanted to get bold, they also have Parker at $11MM or $12MM next year with an expiring contract (I think). Although SA may want to extend Tony. He's still young enough to produce for four or five years.
Spot on!![]()
I really hope they don't shop TP. We'll never get equal value, he's still young, and as I've said before he's much, much more of a team player than some on this board admit.
Crackhouse is just chiming in. Re: Tony, I agree we keep him (and Manu) if possible. These two are not untradable (Tim, David, and should have been Gervin ) but if the contracts are anywhere close to reasonable they should be kept on. Now if we get idiot great offers, well, that would have to be considered.
I think Stackhouse is one of the biggest assholes in the NBA.. remember him using Manu's head to get off the floor?!
Anyway, he has a point, RJ is an athlete that needs ball movement and open space to operate, that's just his game. He obviously "excels" in the open court and when the game is a little bit loose. Unfortunately the Spurs don't play that way most of the time, hence the suckage. I don't think he's going to be very effective in the playoffs, when the game is much tighter. I hope I'm wrong.
Stack needs to do more calling out of RJ, because he was great last night! If that is what it takes to get Jefferson going, Stackhouse should be commentating for the rest of the Spurs games...
They need to play more games against the Twolves!
I can't argue with anything he said, I just don't know if HE should be the one saying it.
Has he finally retired and taken a job on NBATV or something?
Well no....But I do believe he's making a little less dough.
Stack: 20mpg, 8.0ppg, 2.6rpg, 1.9 apg
Jefferson: 30.8mpg, 11.8ppg, 4.1rpg, 2.0apg
I agree stackhouse is an idiot
If only it was summer 2006 and we could be reading "If i know Holt like i know him I could very easily not see Popavich on the bench next year.""If I know Popovich like I know him I could very easily see him not in a San Antonio uniform next year.”
btw any good coach could have rolled the Spurs to the le in 2006 and 2007, so shut your pieholes you 2007 squakers.
It's taken him all year, but Jefferson is starting to look like he belongs on this team. His confidence has improved greatly and his teammates are giving him more support. He is still inconsistent, but with much less frequency and, at times, he shows flashes of solid play making ability. If this progress continues, he could turn into a monster in the playoffs. I hope he proves everybody wrong and turns into the player we need him to be. Let's face it, for better or worse, we are stuck with this guy and I would rather have Jefferson's potential in the playoffs over what we had last year.
Oh, yeah . . . Jerry Stackhouse.

LOL scrub on scrub hate.
That kid's lucky he's not wearing a Joe Johnson facemask after taking the ball at Stackhouse.
