OK. I know the last thing this forum needs is yet another Michael Finley thread, however I couldn't resist posting this juicy little tidbit, courtesy of ESPN Insider. This is Finley's response to a question about the differences between his old team and his new one. I'll be curious to see the reaction from the masses.

    http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/features/rumors

    Less teaching, more talking

After his first full-squad practice in Boston, former Spurs guard Michael Finley had this to say to the Herald about the differences in his old team versus his new team:

"A lot of talking -- trash talking, I guess," Finley said. "It's a lot more aggressiveness, a lot more of just letting the players go out and play, a lot less teaching than we had in San Antonio."

That's been the reason the Spurs have had long term success. The players are being taught how to play the right way. Kudos to Pop and the rest of the coaching staff for recognizing that even in the NBA the players still need to learn how to play the game.

I don't think that's true, Finley is a professional and I'm sure he misses the atmosphere with the Spurs.

LOL finley realizing he made a big mistake.

It was a good decision for us since it forced us to sign Cedric, who without a doubt is funner to watch than Finley's greedy geriatric ass.

Look, you can buy into the PR image of him being the lonely class veteran leaving Dallas to go get a ring with a classy organization. That's fine.

The simple matter is everything with how he left this organization, said he wanted to go to a contender, felt he should be playing, etc. shows him to be a punk ass.

I hope he and the rest of the Celts get teabagged in round 1 in the east.

What I can't decipher is whether this is an indictment against the old team or the new one?

Whatever the case, I hope he does have regrets.

Meanwhile, I like the look, feel and energy of the younger guys that are getting time. I always thought there were better options for the Spurs than him, and nothing that has transpired since he's left, has changed my opinion. Don't miss him one bit.

So basically he just says that the Celtics are a bunch of black neanderthals IE: Kevin, Perkins, Wallace, Etc. that don't learn and just go out and play "tough", yet have slipped significantly in the standings. Good job Fin.

Whereever Finley's at is the place to be.

No one turns his team into a winner like Michael "the 100th blow" Finley.

    Dude simply has "it".

Celtics obviously need the leader that is Michael Finley and he is immediately stepping up to the task.

This is always benficial to Michael Finley's teams. Always.

Pretty much. He must have regrets. The Parker injury could have very well thrust him back into the rotation, if not into the starting line-up. The combination of his departure and Tony's injury created opportunities for others (Malik, Jackson, and perhaps Temple) to demonstrate what they can do. That's good for the Spurs.

Finley spent 15 years crafting the classy, professional persona. The ultimate corporate player choosing the ultimate corporate team and winning a ring. Fooled lots of folks. Fooled me. Now he gets to serve out the remainder of this season, and probably his career, with a group that is the an hesis of that carefully crafted image.

Since Fin departed, I see a team playing loose, playing team defense, and looking like they enjoy playing together. Fin's horrific D played havoc with our rotations and long rebounds off his misses were great at igniting opposing fast breaks. He helped us in '07, but those days are gone. I don't miss him, harbor no ill feelings, but he's just another NBA baller that isn't a Spur. I don't really care what he thinks about the Celts. I'm over it.

    Hairston + Jackson >>> Fin.

    Win.

He's a compe or and clearly was not in the spurs plans. he moved on. publicly he stated that the spurs were still contenders and that is all you can ask a public figure to do.

It's kinda fun to watch grown men on the internet get so emotional over a bench player leaving for more playing time.

Whatever, I'm glad he is gone. So many young guys in the lineup now have a craving to play.

    Dear Mike Finley,

I'll tell you what the difference btwn the Spurs and Celtics is:

You won a ring with the Spurs.
You'll never win a ring with the Celtics; they are done
