Kobe Bryant can dominate the ball and take the Lakers out of their offense. In other breaking news, the sun rises in the East and Kirstie Alley may have put on a few pounds.

So Dave McMenamin of ESPNLosAngeles asked the Lakers shooting coach Craig Hodges if anyone stands up to Kobe on this team, if anyone who tells him to start moving the ball and sharing.
"No," Hodges says flatly when I ask him at one point in the first half if any players on the team stand up to Kobe Bryant and critique him if he does something detrimental to the team. On this occasion it was Bryant not sprinting back on defense after turning the ball over with a bad pass.

"Not one. They all kiss his a--."
Welcome to the modern NBA locker room -- nobody really stands up to LeBron James, and Hodges admits nobody on his Bulls stood up to Jordan. Nobody barks at the Alpha Dog. And Phil Jackson just lets everybody figure things out for themselves, learning lessons that stick better that way.

Lakers fans may not like the waiting, may not like the lack-of-urgency, but Hodges expouses what other coaches ad players say -- the Lakers are bored with the season but they can flip the switch fast.
More so than confidence, Hodges thought that the Lakers were just a little bored with the season.

"There's enough games left now to really feel the need to be ready for the playoffs and our energy is getting to that playoff mentality."
This is a really great piece by McMenamin. Hodges is honest and expresses his love for Andrew Bynum and his frustration that the Lakers don't run the triangle well this season. He talks about Tex Winter (who coached Hodges in college). About how long Bryant can play.

Just don't expect any Kobe bashing. Hodges kisses his a-- plenty, too.

If someone in LA had the guts to tell Kome as it is, im willing to bet the Lakers are on their way to a league leading 69 win season this year. The Lakers are too deep and talented to play second fiddle in season standiungs to Cleveland.

And this is why teams will never be as good as the 80s/90s. There is too many prima donnas and too much false sense of en lement.

Maxwell and Hakeem got into a fist fight in the Houston locker room pushing each other harder, especially when they up.

Opposing teams best players actually hated each other and got into fights, they were true compe ors. Now a days, its all hugging and kissing, back door deals to stack teams. There needs to be enforcers on teams that tell people to stop playing stupid when they are, even if they are making 20+ million. Enforcers have turned into Varejaos and Vulajics who dont enforce anymore, they just annoy the piss out of the other team.

The Cavs could dance their way to 70 wins and it wouldn't mean until they get to the finals and beat the Lakers in a 7 game series.

Until then, Cleveland will be forever known as Dallas-East.

I remember hearing about Cartwright going off on Pippen after Pippen's infamous refusal to go back in for a last-second shot that PJ drew up for another player.

But I don't recall ever hearing about Cartwright going off on Jordan. When did that happen?

Like Craig said they know who thealpha dog is ...Kobe can be an ass no doubt about it ...
But where did he learn this? By idolizing and imitating the GOAT (according to most) MJ.

That is why I always preffered Magic to Kobe and MJ ...

Those that hate on Kobe for his "peronality", arrogance womanizing etc might as well hate Jordan, too. The hypocrisy is hilarious ....

Yes it did. Bill put MJ in his place.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=igwQLjOqFAc

Yes it did happen watch at the 55 second part of this clip it pretty much sums it up right there.

On a sidenote the lakers as a team will always kiss Kobe's ass I think the majority of them are not scared of him but moreso scared of being traded. The Odoms,Bynums,Gasols, are all divas that love living the LA lifestyle no way would they want to give it up even if they have to take from Kobe.

More like most are not alpha dogs themselves. Odom is passive. Gasol is passive-aggressive. Bynum seems like he could emerge as a leader later on in life but he is young and immature. Artest can be aggressive at times but I would not call him an alpha.

The only other true leader on the team is Fisher and he's not an in-your-face type.

Yeah, and I believe in The Jordan Rules it said that he was one of the few that would stand up to MJ. One time I believe he threatened to beat him up or something, because he found out that MJ was going to the teammates and telling them not to pass to Cartwright in the clutch because he had such bad hands.

Really? When did that happen? I only heard about Maxwell getting into it with Carl Herrera and Dave Jamerson.
