It was clear once they got the big lead last night that they took the foot off the pedal and played with much less intensity.
    obviously

There's a difference with easing off the gas pedal against a depleted Chicago team and doing it against LA, Cleveland, Orlando or Denver.
the difference being, while a ty Bulls team will cut that lead to 7, an elite team will keep the run going and steal the game.

I guarantee you they won't play so half-assed like that against an elite team.
how do you know this? what basis do you have for making a guarantee like this? almost every time the Mavs get a big lead they half-ass it. How can you guarantee that at ude will change? When have the Mavs ever proven they can switch it on and off once the playoffs roll around?

I want all of our 30+ veteran starters to play 45 minutes against a depleted Bulls team so we can beat them by 30 in a mid-March game

The Mavericks won't surrender big leads in the playoffs because they'll play with more intensity. For example, game 3 of the 2006 Finals.

Because they didn't respect the Junior Varsity Bulls last night, and it informed Carlisle's strategy to go with JJB the entire fourth quarter instead of playing Kidd. They DO respect any team they'll see in the playoffs. I'll eat my shoe if Barea plays an entire 4th Quarter in the playoffs.

they wont be losing focus like that against elite teams. two VERY different situations. we've seen it all year long. the mavs PLAY DOWN TO THEIR COMPE ION. not saying its what we want to see, but it is what it is. as long as they beat bad teams, play up to good compe ion, im happy. and they have done just that.

We got Kidd for late-game management to avoid repeats of Game 3 of the Finals. I was wrong and you were right about that trade.

BTW, the Mavs are 16-3 in games decided by 3 or less with Carlisle/Kidd. Do you see Avery stalking along the sidelines and Devin "Jesus Christ" Harris wearing the blue and green?

I'm optimistic when there's reason to be optimistic, I'm pessimistic when there's reason to be pessimistic, I praise the team when they deserve praise, and I criticize the team when they play lazy. I've done that from the beginning.

I never have been, nor will I ever be, a blind cheerleader homer like you.

Exactly how I feel nowadays. Especially when seeing the homerism at other mavs sites makes me appreciate fans like you who tell it like it is.

The Mavs only rested their ass on bulls because they though bulls weren't a team worth any seriousness, which was exactly the viewpoint you demonstrated but now you're offering a presumption that Mavs would lose the game playing against an elite, on the basic proviso that Mavs would rest asses the same way on elites which rashes against your original viewpoint.

profoundly the Mavs would take on the Spurs in first round, I don't think they would take any glittering respite against the Spurs even though they are quite an ass-sucking team and always act as preys every time they confront the Mavs.

I think this article puts it perfectly. While we would like to see at least a little more focus from the Mavs, at the same time, its not a huge deal as long as they get the win, and all year they have proven that they can turn it on when they need to, and there are stats to prove it.

Db.com never posts anything negative about the mavs.... Im surprised fish didn't write an article after the knicks game like, "why a blowout loss at home makes the mavs le contenders?".... Homerism at it's finest
