Who would be a potential partner in this scenario? I would think RJ would be a good chip to dangle out there for this.

I would not read too much into the article..the source of the info is probably a jealous gm...Spurs have the ball in their court...I should write an article led " The Spurs may be able to sign Splitter next season."
